That's a cool piece, I dig.

yeah, i agree. good jib. especially the part about plunging into the depths of hell on a daily basis. this is actually the first music column i've read by a young teen, are there many? most times i see something written by a teen intern it's about celeb gossip or fashion.

Or its kids who've just discovered the canon so prop it up further ("wtf you don't like pink floyd!?")

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anybody know if this kid does album reviews as well? He's good. I want to add him to the Pazz and Jop database, if he's eligible. (He may be even younger than Daniel Dimaggio, Irin Carmon, Max Berry, and Brian Orloff were when they were added a few years ago -- and since they're all either approaching or in their 20s by now, I need to start thinking about the new generation...)

Holy shit, that's the metro times. I was given one BY THE METRO TIMES when I was 17. WTF.

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

When I was 17, if I tried to write about pop music it would be all rockist and snobby. I like this kid bcuz he is not me.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm eighteen and I don't think anything I write could be that clear-headed (in a good way...I write in a more complex fashion but when it comes to reviews I thnik they end up being quite muddles and I am uncertain how to explain myself properly).

He's the best thing to happen to the Metro Times in ages.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate those "cute" subheadings they give him, "He may not be old enough to drive but our pup rock crit can still riff on death and all things metal." blah.

deej., Wednesday, 16 March 2005 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

It is pretty patronizing, esp. when he's one of their better writers by a country mile.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Look at the cute little mini-Euronymous!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Good lord, they need to ditch that cartoon they gave him immediately.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The school this kid went to sounds a lot like the one I went to.
