of the leading on-line magazines, who are your favorite writers for each one? who is the funniest? whose taste do you most agree with?

Andre Roquet, Thursday, 20 January 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

What *are* the leading on-line magazines?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 January 2005 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.bigbuttmag.com/

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 20 January 2005 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

That's one way to lead.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 January 2005 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

so sorry. writers from the leading on-line music magazines. popmatters, pitchfork, stylus, etc.

Andre Roquet, Thursday, 20 January 2005 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm quite a fan of Kirstin Tanger of Lets Filk About

Xii (Xii), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:15 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, i get to say Ned Raggett, because I loved his Music For The Masses tribute so much

derrick (derrick), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The wuh huh?

;-)

Thanks!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

anthony carew.

even though half the time i can't even tell if he actually thinks the record is any good.

speaking of which, people should look up the write-ups hrvatski used to do for forced exposure. fe.org --> search engine --> hrvatski.

arjun (arjun), Thursday, 20 January 2005 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ILM is my current fave online mag and i think eddie hurt is my current fave writer for it.

fact checking cuz (fcc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

even though half the time i can't even tell if he actually thinks the record is any good.

That's what we like to call "mature music writing."

Eppy (Eppy), Thursday, 20 January 2005 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

At the risk of sounding like a total fanboy, I really enjoy the writing of ILM's own d_leone of Fork fame.

thank god i ain't too cool for the safe belt (smile), Thursday, 20 January 2005 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

xxpost:
That eddie hurt IS good. I think he is writing for the Voice as well these days.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 20 January 2005 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i like d_leone too. my friend wrote her a note to say he liked her writing and to suggest some bands and she was really friendly and actually wrote him back. I thought that was really nice. kudos to her.

zach farver, Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Another vote for D Leone. I don't often pay attention to who's writing what but the guy's got taste and manages to make his reviews interesting too :-) !

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

n.b., Dom Leone's a guy. (And unfortunately, he doesn't have curly blonde hair, knee-length boots and a French accent.)

Chris Dahlen (Chris Dahlen), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

hah. i thought it was dominique leone. oops.

zach farver, Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

How hot is Dominique Leone in person?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

It is "Dominique."

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

never heard that name for a man. but regardless, i like his reviews and he was friendly to my friend. thumbs up.

zach farver, Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you follow the NBA in the late 80s?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Mason Jones stuff at Dusted.

Trip Maker (Sean Witzman), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

nope i didn't. i know i'm wrong. i just never met a male dominique. now I know and knowing is half the battle.

zach farver, Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

many here and there have made the dominique mistake. dominic vs. dominique = foncusion.
m.

msp (msp), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, didn't mean to sound like i was picking on you, zach! msp is right: a lot of people have made that mistake, so it's become somewhat of an in-joke on this board.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Dominique Wilkins. Awesome player

Rizz (Rizz), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Ned's a guy too.

don, Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard rumors.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Dominique Wilkins. Awesome player

They called him the Human Highlight Film, which was an odd nickname for an NBA player.

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hah! yeah, i guess so. i was intrigued by his glistering short jheri curly hair. he was my favourite NBA player for a long time, after that came Shawn Kemp.

I havent paid attention to the NBA since Kobe was a rookie though as I'm from Holland and can't be arsed to pay to watch it at 3 am.

Is it more exciting now?

Rizz (Rizz), Thursday, 20 January 2005 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Scott Plagenhoef at Pitchfork

jsg, Thursday, 20 January 2005 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Dom Passantino.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 20 January 2005 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Pitchfork-- Nick Sylvester, Dominique Leone, Ryan Schreiber, Chris Dahlen
Stylus-- JT Ramsay, Rollie Pemberton, Derek Miller, Justin Cober-Lake

Kyle M., Thursday, 20 January 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Justin Cober-Lake's name bothers me.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 20 January 2005 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought Clyde Drexler was more fun to watch at the Slam Dunk contests than Wilkins. Jordan was best of course, though. Man, do they still just have nobodies doing that? it used to be that in the '80s they had actual fucking ALL-STARS in it. That was much cooler.

Mike O. (Mike Ouderkirk), Friday, 21 January 2005 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

four weeks pass...
Justin Cober-Lake's name bothers me.

Hey!

(or, explain, please, unless it's a boy-band thing...)

JC-L (JC-L), Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it bothers me because it's sounds so close to you-know-who -- but I love you-know-who!

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(Anyway, it doesn't actually bother me. :))

(Hi Justin!)

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim Berners-Lee?

(xpost)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

That guy everyone used to be into. Him.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Otis Hart, Michael Crumsho, Brandon Stousy

Gill, Sunday, 20 February 2005 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

aw, thanks, Ken L. and fact-checkin' cuz. awfully nice of you.

you two are among my favorites here too. otis hart is another writer I like. martin skidmore is one who shares my love for soul music, I always enjoy his writing. I always learn a lot here on ILM--how much I don't know, and how doctrinaire I can be when I'm not having a great day, which unfortunately seems to be happening more and more right now. But writing always helps; need to get more serious about it, yep.

edd s hurt (ddduncan), Sunday, 20 February 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

reppin fr a. carew
