I would probably enjoy the entire "Chapel of the Chimes" ep more if I could get my mind off of the anticipation of hearing "Ceremony" at the end.

that cover is insane. i had the incredible pleasure of seeing them perform it live a few years ago with the original lineup* which came as a huge surprise as I wasn't aware it was part of their repertoire.

The "Ceremony" cover is a good example for the "I love the band because of their flaws" thread ... the high notes are so high that JS' only chance of hitting them is to scream at the top of his lungs -- and he still doesn't come close. But by *not* hitting the notes, the song sounds that much more manic and unhinged, which is the effect they were aiming for.

But at the same time, it's hard to call this a "flaw" because he CHOSE to sing the song an octave higher in order to accentuate this effect. If he wanted to hit the notes without any trouble then he could have sang the song in its normal range, but the song would have sounded completely different.

I love their cover of "Ceremony". It's as good as Galaxie 500's (although that version's much different to this) and almost as good as Skywave's.

Anyway, I still haven't bought the EP, but if it's anything like the version on Fag Patrol it must be the epitome of intense.
