Battle of the mid-90's exotic New Agey post-Seal pop!

Which is it? Sultry Paul Bowlesian (well, the Sahara part, anyway) ruminations of love and devotion from a disarmingly sexy Indonesian temptress or Vague pontifications about space travel from a soaring voiced chanteuse?

Holy crap Alex, I never thought in a million years that Anggun would ever rise as a topic of conversation. I've got to wonder how you remember her. I only remember her because my first girlfriend told me about her but otherwise I didn't know she even registered on anybody else's radars. I have to pick Anggun...her song puts you in the same reflective mood that Tasmin's might, but it does so using middle-eastern accents that weren't trendy at the time. For adult contemporary, Anggun's not a bad way to go.

This thread died too early a death.

Solely in the interest of sparking activity in this thread, here are some truly eye-popping pics of the preternaturaly gorgeous Anggun. And might I say that her voice is as lovely as she is. Imagine a better looking Jennifer Lopez...WHO CAN ACTUALLY SING!

That she happens to be a fabulous hottie should not, however, influence your answer regarding which single is superior here, of course.

One vote here for Tasmin Archer. Always liked "Sleeping Satellite" quite a bit as long as I didn't listen too hard to the lyrics.

two years pass...

The Seal comparisions is interesting because, in fact, Seal was the one act I thought about too at the time. I saw those two as a breath of fresh air on a hitlist scene otherwise dominated by repetitive minimalist dreck with way too little focus on actual melodies.
