I've been wondering when bleeping on MTV started. Was it like this from the beginning, or did it start with NWA or something like that? Does anyone know?

And when did bleeping even start on tv? The 1970ies, I suppose? In the Doors movie, there's this incident where Morrison is not allowed to say "Girl we couldnt get much HIGHER" but does it anyway. That suggests that they couldn't delay the signal back then, or maybe they just didn't take use of that possibility (like last year's super bowl final). Anyway.
