JJ Burnel has some song on the "Euroman Cometh" LP that has a motorbike going in the background right the way through. Can't remember the name of the track though...

Scott Foust of Swill Radio label and bands such as Pickle Factory, Idea Fire Company, etc., has a band called the Motor of History with Adris Hoyos of Harry Pussy on drums. I THINK that the whole concept of the band is to have him make motor-like sounds on the guitar. There's a track on Foust's The Fighting Sensualist retrospective.

Montrose@!!@

proof that Roth-era Van Halen (i.e. the beginning of "Hot for Teacher") was just ripping off Sammy Hagar? i have never heard the song q mentions though

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 24 January 2005 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

that montrose song is totally totally awesome.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the whole Montrose album is amazing. I can never decide if "Bad Motor Scooter" or "Space Station #5" is my favorite.

Einsturzende Neubauten - "Fiat Lux"

The intro to "Bad Motor Scooter" is done with a slide and it sounds like a car shifting gears. "Hot for Teacher" intro is the double kick drums sounds like a 73 Chevy Nova with glass packs. Both are pretty wicked.

There is some similarity to Roth era Van Halen and those first two Montross records. "Rock Candy" would not sound at all out of place on an early Van Halen album.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Disco Inferno's 'Scattered Showers' has truck engines starting in tune with the music.

Kraftwerk's 'Autobahn'

Einsturzende Neubauten have also been using a jet engine fairly recently.

We attempted to use a lawn edger motor for one of my bands, but we couldn't get the bastard started.

Surprised no-one's mentioned Meat Loaf's "Bat Out Of Hell", with Todd Rundgren doing that exact same guitar-as-motorcycle thing as Montrose. And then there's Mungo Jerry. ("In The Summertime")
