the have their own ghostface/freeway called lil menace who might be tighter than either of them. slim's cousin 12 o'clock sounds like the leader now, and has a tight promo i have on slsk (P$T). the first track is this alright metal synth-guitar beat with plucky panning synth plucks. 12 does two verse about somebody who he doesn't want in cutthroat committy anymore (don't tell me nothin bout no motherfuckin laptop / i'll putcho head flatout on that motherfuckin blacktop) and the chorus is a group chanting MAGNOLIA / THAT NOLIA while 12 does longer chants over it.
slim was one of the only rappers i've felt and i hope these cats can pull his style through. they do this layered chanting unlike anything i've heard. sometimes theyll multitrack their voices and do inflected echos of their voices instead of just doubling up some words
but what i like most is how seriously they take themselves and the resulting poetics. i'll post some tracks on yousendit when i get home. if you want the whole thing i got it on slsk too.
