Has anyone seen this? They're playing at the Knitting Factory tomorrow night and I was planning on going. What's the word?

six months pass...
did you go?

I guess this wasn't a long running venture then? I'm intrigued, although I can only imagine it being an odd and easy-cheesy-listening experience compared to y'know... the real thing.

I heard this guy on WNYC. They played a couple snippets from albums. Sounded not too bad. Probably worth checking out.

So, someone finally found my message in a bottle :)

I did go, and my gf (HUGE bjork fan) and I had a really great time. it's been a while, but I guess it was pretty easy-cheesy-listening. the Bjorkestra isn't really an orchestra, though. it's more like a big band, so all the tracks end up sounding like "It's Oh So Quiet," which works for some tracks, but others (esp. side 1 Homogenic) end up sounding like cornball tributes. the girl they have singing for Bjork has some pipes, though, so i'd still recommend going.

I'd much rather see a symphonic tribute. I love the version of "Hyperballad" performed with the Brodsky quartet. Apparently, there's a lot more in the Family Tree box.

I saw it almost exactly a year ago at the Knitting Factory and it was pretty cool. Some tracks def. sound better than others, but it's almost all interesting.

I almost went to see them at Makor... but lost interest when I found out there were vocals involved. All-instrumental renditions would be a much more promising idea.
