Which is a shame, as it seemed that having a girl drummer gave the lineup a bit of stability. Who knows if this was true, I don't.

But now what? Who cares anymore? Will either make the NME cool list at all next year?

Sorry, should have added this:

She did always come across as a bit too pure.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 27 January 2005 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I find this bit of news far more perplexing:

The Babyshambles man confirmed that he is smitten, telling ITV's Orange Playlist "It's been the best week in a long time because I've really found love with Kate".

AARRRGGGHHHHH!!!! GO AWAY YOU EVIL MAN, STOP HUMPING MY LEG!!!

I thought Catty was kidding when she told me the other night. It's the funniest and somehow most... simultaneosly *right* and utterly *wrong* thing I've heard in ages.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate Moss has bewildering taste/tolerance. I crush Gemma.

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

with guns

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Gemma was probably the best thing that band had going for them. Sigh. Oh well.

That reminds me, I still need to buy Pornography...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd wait till April when the extended edition comes out.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate the way NME use a photo of PETE DOHERTY even tho the story is about THE DRUMMER. pathetic.

now she must form a new band with Javine and the Zutons saxophonist. Songs by Betty Boo, production by Vicky from Fuzzbox.

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that Carlos's birthday present to me? Oh, yummmmy.

Gah, what is it with that apalling woman? First Bobby G and now this? I know that the dirty boys keep saying "Get me Kate, I love Kate, I need Kate" and somehow come home with the wrong one...

x-post HAH HAH!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I preferred that Johnny Depp man. very clean. you let me down when you let him go dear.

Kate Moss's Mum On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, Richey Manic's on the cover. TEN YEARS. OMG.

Not being too delicate about it but can crack addicts fuck?

Miles Finch, Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh wait, are you talking about the Cure album, and not the Carlos solo track?

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost or just reading matter?

TO be honest, I feel sorry for Pete (for once). He's been going round (apparently) going "OMG WTF I'm going with KATE MOSS! How did that HAPPEN?" and texting her like a furious, saying "I BLUDDY AM, YEAH! Look, she's coming to the Gig I've just decided I'm doing" and sending "Oh I'm doing a gig tonight whynot come pleeez Iluvyouheartheart..." and she's going "Oh My God.... W T F?"

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Somehow, that's even *better*...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

surely she's all 'OMG WTF I'm going out with THIS guy!'. Is this how little clean mature men can stand me now (uh ohoh oh oh oh)??!

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

(I had to rad that three times before working out that was not her panting...)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

she's already chucked him.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm assuming that the babydaddy was like, "right. i can tolerate you going out every night, drinking like a fish, going nuts with the pills/gear, and getting your tits out, but if you start dating a crack/smackhead then i will sue for custody."

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a headline in the bizarre page of whichever tabloid it is over someone's shoulder on the train to work this morning that said words to the effect of 'the news we didn't expect to read (for at least another two weeks) .... Kate dumps Pete!'.

Unfortunately I neither have good enough eyesight nor the inclination particularly to have tried to read further!

M Carty (mj_c), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, in that case, I almost feel more sorry for *her*...

No, wait, it's Kate Moss. BWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH NO I DON'T, DIE BITCH DIE!!!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post, whoops...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

oops, I was too slow typing there!

M Carty (mj_c), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

And in even more bizarre news, Kate Moss is rumoured to be launching a music career this year at Glastonbury 2005. The supermodel is apparently ready to grace Glastonbury's hallowed turf following an incident in which she apparently wowed guests at her 31st birthday party by belting out a series of covers.

Primal Scream mainman and close friend of Moss, Bobbie Gillespie, is rumoured to feature in the band that will back her debut performance proper. An insider said, "Kate loves Glastonbury and goes as often as she can. She enjoys the music and hanging out with friends. It was widely known that appearing there on stage is something she has wanted to do for a while." Which is, of course, plenty of justification as to why she should be allowed to do so...

Miles Finch, Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Babyshambles man confirmed that he is smitten, telling ITV's Orange Playlist "It's been the best week in a long time because I've really found love with Kate".

-- The Phantom of the Operating System (masonicboo...), January 27th, 2005.

After what, a week? That is so lame. I love that all the stories are "He's really serious and knows he's got a problem. MAYBE KATE WILL BE THE THING HE NEEDS TO HELP HIM THROUGH". Ha ha ha. Can anybody confirm Lauren Lavern's facial expression at that precise television moment for me, though?

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm so bringing a big bag of rotten fruit with me this year to glasto.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Poor Gemma. Now I really understand why she quit...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the ananova story on their lightning-fast romance said they'd got matching tattoos declaring their love too.

M Carty (mj_c), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Gah, what is it with that apalling woman? First Bobby G and now this?

She was with Bobby G? I know she was with Dando. She's perpetually 15 yrs old.

The Babyshambles man confirmed that he is smitten, telling ITV's Orange Playlist "It's been the best week in a long time because I've really found love with Kate".

I def want his drugs.

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

So did Kate. Moss, I mean.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooh, it did! He said he already had a heart tattoo, but he got a K put in the middle of it.

Don't people know better, and also know better to not go on telly declaring their love? I mean. Write it in the back of yr textbook, you stupid Libertine man.

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

she's a bit of an indie doorknob, our girl.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

"Belted out a series of Covers"...

RAH! There's Vogue (throw) and there's the Face (throw) and here's an old "Hello" (chuck) and oh look another Vogue (hurl)...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the ananova story on their lightning-fast romance said they'd got matching tattoos declaring their love too.

Is he scared he'll forget after an overdose?

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Now somebody please find me a picture of Lauren's playfully mocking face!

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Matching tattoos with some drug addict you've known a week?!?!? Who would be mad enough to do this? OK, wait, my sister did this once, but still.

He said he already had a heart tattoo, but he got a K put in the middle of it.

Oh my god. That's exactly what I used to sign Lollies albums with and put to mark my setlist and that sort of things. He really HAS made a mistake this time, hasn't he...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe he can just pretend it was a K records tattoo all along...

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Turn the hoses on them!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

DUMPED HIM BY TEXT!!!

Man, even I've never dumped anyone by text message. That's harsh.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

'dear junkion, welcome to dumpsville, population....you'

i like her get-up in that photo

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Man, she nicked my hat!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Bet she's after Carl now...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i think her Mum would settle for that

Stevem On X (blueski), Thursday, 27 January 2005 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

IF SHE TOUCHES CARLOS, I WILL STRING HER UP BY HER SKINNY MODEL COLLARBONES AND KILL HER!!! WITH GUNS!!!!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay for Kate!

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 27 January 2005 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

this is confusing are you people are like hiding here waiting to discuss teh libs in between all the a level rockism stuff?

elwisty (elwisty), Thursday, 27 January 2005 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the thread where at the very least we're avoiding all the rockism action.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

r0ck1sm "action".

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like there's the other world... which I know not of. Nor care.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Pash... It's not like anybody is actually going to google that...

(is there? Tell me no, please!)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, god knows. People who give a shit about "rockism" idly googling is probably too amusing an explanation for the profusion of threads.

Should I start a piss-take thread:

Only pick one hundred; most rockist moments from pitchfork magazine.

???

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

A brief statement from Gemma Clarke.

Before you click...Guess: Do they use a picture of Gemma to illustrate the news item?
