1. And me, Human Crack in the flesh (flesh)
I'm the last of the best (best)
One word to describe me (what), spectacular, YES.

2. Call me Richochet Rabbit
Cause I click and spray matics
And my niggaz straight savage (Goonies!)

3. That rooti, tooti, fruity, Louie, what I usually do (what's this?)
This that jump, stop, breathe, whoody-whoooooo

maybe this is weird because these aren't particularly "clever," just awesome.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Friday, 28 January 2005 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm partial to this bit from "Jamaican Joint"

"nigga I ride how I drive how I fly high sky high ha ha I'm high / so
high so fly float by oh why oh my and I don't know why"

scrimshaw (scrimshaw1837), Friday, 28 January 2005 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe I should have just made it a dipset quoteables thread! that would be pretty awesome too.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Friday, 28 January 2005 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"A Hustler and Cam famous?
You damn anus"

From Soap Opera, which also references Gargamel.

raj, Friday, 28 January 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Cam'ron from Jamaican Joint on the Jim Jones album: "on the yacht with glocks, we some thug sailors"

that album is really really good though, better than i thought it was at first. the beats are really good, and i usually don't care about that stuff as much. especially on the aforementioned Jamaican Joint, the beat is mad triumphant, like many of the best Dipset related songs.

in terms of Crunk Muzik, its hard to isolate individual lines, it basically all stands out. i think i asked this on ILM before but nobody answered; wtf is with the video? why are there those russian people at the end, and why is that guy talking to that crowd of well dressed people, and why are they on rollerblades in the bathroom, and why are the dudes standing behind Santana and Jim Jones wearing corpsepaint?!??? is the video a reference to a movie or something? In any case, so fucking awesome. I think its my favorite thing in the world right now.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Monday, 7 February 2005 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the video is a reference to the movie The Warriors. The whole 'Dip Set, come out and play' thing at the end is a pretty famous remix of a line "WARRIORS, COME OUT AND PLAY" from the film. the movie is about rival gangs fighting in the streets and shit.

the best line in the song from juelz, obviously:

"So stay calm, shorty, when you see that palmed 40
I'll lock and load, you'll rock and roll like Bon Jovi"

Rollie Pemberton (Rollie Pemberton), Monday, 7 February 2005 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

oh ok, nevermind then

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Monday, 7 February 2005 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah Warriors references have been done to death in hip hop over the years...ain't nothin' new....Puffy does the same on Flava in ya Ear remix.....bunch of stuff....

By far my favorite line on this is by Cam, but it doesn't look as cool on paper with out the wierd phrasing, but still:

Tell her that her boo....bie's loco, coo.....kie monster, who he? (who am I?)

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 7 February 2005 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm really partial to this one from "Beautiful Noise":

"But if it wasn't for Grandma
I swear I'm in love with my Grandma
That's why I only does it for Grandma."

Notwithstanding the audacity of rhyming "Grandma" with itself three times, that's at least as jarring a change from the overall tone of that song as when Cam'ron reveals that they like to hang out at Gray's Papaya.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Monday, 7 February 2005 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim Jones repping grandma is one of my favorite things about Diplomatic Immunity.

Al (sitcom), Monday, 7 February 2005 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim Jones repping grandma is one of my favorite things about Diplomatic Immunity.

It sounds like he wants to do more than just "rep" Grandma!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 7 February 2005 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

:( don't be crude

Al (sitcom), Monday, 7 February 2005 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry!

man....you Dip Set fans are sensitive ; )

Cam is the new Morrissey.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 7 February 2005 23:11 (twenty-one years ago)

haha. i was kinda joking, but really! trying to make overzealous familial love into something else, that's a bit much.

Al (sitcom), Monday, 7 February 2005 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Its way better than that DMX song about grandma.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

By the way, Crunk Musik may represent the moment where I actually "got" what you nutcases were raving about w/r/t the Dip Set....I think I'm going to break down and go get Purple Haze.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

What did everyone think of Come Home With Me? I think Purple Haze is a lot more consistent, but its hard to beat "Oh Boy," "The Roc," "Hey Ma" and my personal favorite, "On Fire Tonight."

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i listened to Come Home With Me walking to work this morning, and it's a pretty consistent album, the latter half, totally kicking the first half's ass (sans Oh Boy), but i think the on new album, Cam has really come into his own as a lyricist and it's a lot more fun.

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

this one from Killa Cam is still one of the winners (i know it's been mentioned before on ILM)

Canary burgandy
I call it lemon red
Yellow diamonds in my ear
Call em lemonheads
Lemonhead end up dead
Ice like winipeg
Gemstones flinstones
You could say i'm friends with fred
You want happy scrappy
I got pataki at me (wtf is this line?)
Bitches say i'm tacky daddy
Range look like laffy taffy

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Come Home With Me is aight. Diplomatic Immunity is way better than any Cam solo album.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(wtf is this line?)

You got it right...he means the governor.

I still like the "drinkin sake on suzukis we in osaka bay" shit.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

What did you think of DI2, all?

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

all = Al, but i suppose it could mean all as well.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i just got di2, and haven't listened to more than 4 songs, but it hasn't struck me as gold yet.

here's another line i like:
Golly I'm gully, look at his galoshes
Gucci, gold, platinum plaque collages

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno, I haven't heard it all. it seems like a lot of the songs are redundant stuff from the solo albums and mixtapes (Crunk Muzik, Take Em To Church, Family Ties, Dead Motherfuckers, etc), though. I have a friend who swears by it, but I'm not really interested.

(x-post)

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The entire third verse of "Leave Me Alone Pt. 2" to thread!

I'm more like the plant in "Little Shop of Horrors"
But I don't say "Feed me Seymour"
I say, "Feed me Dame, feed me Lyor"
Epic, they used to feed me detours
Roc-a-Fella, they feed me C-4
The way I blow up, the VS just soars
You GS-3, I'm GS-4
You in a Lexus, I'm Gulfstream 4
Up in the sky, on a Gulf Stream tour
You want beef? We'll start a Gulf Stream war
Lay your ass down on God's green floor
We playin' golf in the Gulf of New Mexico
The cost to be the boss, you gotta respect it, ho
My gas game, you gotta respect it tho
I swear to god you think I'm working for Texaco
And your section know when any day Tecs could blow
Hit 'em from neck to toe when I come deck ya, ho

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

jones' first verse from "crunk muzik" has been my current fave verse for about, uh, three or four months now. "spectacular, yesssss".

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

that's santana on the first verse.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i just listened to the whole of Diplomatic Imunity 2 (first time through, mostly listening to beats and hooks), and it's kinda blah. they stick most of the good tracks near the end. i really like the sample based dip beats and there's very few of them here. it seems like it's trying to be harder, when all the other stuff i've heard from them has a nice playful edge to it. do you think this has anything to do with them not being on rocafella anymore? less funding?

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, and that verse on Crunk Muzik, that's done in southern triplet style (i think that's jim jones), is fucking killer

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks al!! i should've just said "that dipset guy"!!

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

my favorite dipset hook might be OHHHH uhohhhh its santana the great OHHH

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i love the 'ice like winnipeg' line.

we need a canadian refs in american rap thread.

Shmool McShmool (shmuel), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

gah, i accidentally posted in the Jim Jones the cult leader thread:

i'm relistening to the Jim Jones album (it really is great), but i just noticed this: has he always sounded like Tu Pac or is it just on a few of these songs?

also, i pulled out the Juelz album last night (i'm making a friend who's into undie a dipset mix cd). it's really good. i've never listened to it because i have it on 2xlp and i fucking hate double records. i'm too lazy to have to flip over a record ever few songs. i think i like it so much because Heatmakerz did most of the album.

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i just saw the video for this!! i liked how when juelz did his bon jovi line the screen froze on the crazy Russian for like a full five seconds.

who did the beat?

Monday At Bernie's (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

blackout music did the beat.

f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s (adamwest), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish someone would just transcribe the whole song.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

you know that you can get lyrics to almost any song by googling the title, right?
