In NYC! At the fancy hipster places near Astor Place that love me & my debit card! What should I buy? Surprise me! Pretend I am clay & you can mold me as you wish! Or make really shitty suggestions that I'm bound to fall for because I'm like that! Be a smartass if you want, too! It's all good because I am going S-H-O-P-P-I-N-G!

Are you going to Kim's? If you are, please buy that cd with the line drawings of creatures that look like marge simpson. Either it's been there for about a year and a half or people turn over their copies every week. Either way, i'm sure it's really great.

is there a thread for pointing out the cds that have sat in the used bin at the record store for a year+?

re: Ethiopiques
get Mahmoud Ahmet if you don't have that one yet. It's fucking amazing. Deep, dark funkadelic goodness.

at other music: buy whatever's on consignment and has the best sign. they generally don't put consignment items online. Like the Mix CDs are always goob. And there's some new Scott Mou stuff that's supposed to be off the rails.

david day (winslow), Friday, 28 January 2005 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yes I wrote you a note about other music how I found good new stuff there that they wrote up and seems local. that diane cluck cd. the tim sweeney mix cd. grizzly bear. witchcraft (although it's no dungen) and yes, Scott Mou stuff is good, he does stuff with hisham, no?
but DO NOT, i repeat do NOT get the Witnesses cd, soooo bad!

David, have you heard the Only Ones debut album? I've been listening to (practically, well ok we love life a bit too) nothing else for the last month.

Michael B, Friday, 28 January 2005 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Michael - I have it somewhere in a pile of mess (thank you Spin Alt Guide!); never really stuck w/ me, for whatever reason. I'll have to give it another try (if I can find it). Also, I have (& have enjoyed) the John Vanderslice album mentioned.

Many thanks for the tips & suggestions, y'all. Please keep 'em coming.
