Random quote I dug up:

Lisa Gerrard said already this about the reunion tour: "The lineup of musicians is absolutely phenomenal, actually it is better then that, this will without doubt be the Dead Can Dance concert to see and hear, it is hard to contain my excitement and anticipation."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 January 2005 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

OMGWTF-WOOHOOOOO!!!

Seb (Seb), Saturday, 29 January 2005 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Roll on August/September, I tell ya.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 January 2005 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

2005 is THE year for music, people. What's next? John Lennon rising from the grave?

Bimble... (Bimble...), Saturday, 29 January 2005 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Bananas, I say. I saw them back in '91 (?) and they were just amazing.

Does anyone have a copy of "Toward The Within" (I think it's called) - their concert film they'd be willing to dupe for yours truly?

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Saturday, 29 January 2005 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You could just buy it for 10 bucks, not really worth the effort.

Alas the full set of shows options has already been purchased.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hari A$hur$t (Toaster), Sunday, 20 March 2005 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Alas the full set of shows options has already been purchased.

Heh.

Don't worry, chances are they'll do this for the North American tour as well. Now, plane tickets to DC...

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Sunday, 20 March 2005 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't wait...the 1996 show they did in downtown Ann Arbor was one of the best shows I've ever seen, casting a spell from beginning to end. I thought I'd walk out of the theater and be transported back to Europe centuries past, but then I smelled cheese fries and was jolted back to reality.

Erick H (Erick H), Sunday, 20 March 2005 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh. I bet the tickets cost an arm and a leg.

Bimble... (Bimble...), Sunday, 20 March 2005 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I was hauled to one of their shows in L.A. in 1990 by a friend of my cousin's. I'd never heard anything of theirs, and was enjoying it a fair amount, having picked up rather quickly on what they were about, when toward the end of their set they called for requests. I cracked up. (They got both "Free Bird" and "Louie Louie," BTW.)

Ha! I remember that show happening but didn't get my brain together enough to go to it. Regrets, I've had a few...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I wouldn't have gone without being hauled. Sadly enough (for them), I couldn't get any of the folks I went with to go see Fela with me later that same summer. Idiots.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

So has anyone seen them on the Euro tour? What are they playing?Wanted to go but was a bit slow on the draw...

Baaderonixxx le Jeune (Fabfunk), Monday, 21 March 2005 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh wow. April dates in London. How can I get tickets to the Barbican?

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Monday, 21 March 2005 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Appears to be sold out. Dammit, why do I never hear about these things in time? :-(

So why so quiet people? Thay are apparently premiering NEW songs during this tour.
Also, the show at the Hollywood Bowl will see them accompanied by the LA philarmonic. I assume Mr. Raggett will go and report back.

The Philharmonic? Oh goddammit, I HAVE to get there now, but all my potential rides fell through. HMMM. *thinks...*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 02:43 (twenty years ago)

Okay, so there's not much excitement now, but when they come to your town I expect to see some action here, ilxors.

If anyone has any clue how I can get tix for the 9/29 show in Mexico City (before I get there on 9/24), please post

People by and large on this board don't give a fuck about Dead Can Dance. What a loss for them! I listened to the double CD recording I bought from the very gig I went to last September, but the problem is it's not like the acoustics of hearing it inside the actual venue, when the sound echoes off the walls and you hear the low sound of bass and drums that strums your heart.

So DID DCD new songs on the tour or what? Is "Saffron" new? Or am I just too lazy to look it up on the internet?

Fryin' Berry, Buck Cherry (Bimble...), Saturday, 17 June 2006 02:42 (twenty years ago)

saffron and crescent were new, or at least unreleased, songs featuring both brendan and lisa. lisa solo had half a dozen more, presumably from her next solo album.

they're not back together or planning a new album though. they did the tour because these are troubled times and they thought it would make their fans happy to see them.
