I say super-mega-classic, never having heard a note and hoping not to.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 29 January 2005 03:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Do they actually even play music?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 29 January 2005 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

that would suck

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 29 January 2005 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...
Here's the quote that proves that Babyshambles are dud.

"You'll have to excuse my voice. My throat is a bit hoarse from the weekend. I've had one of those hectic weekends. I went to see Babyshambles on Friday night, then U2 on Sunday night."

Guess which credible music personality said this? Was it Paul 'Phones' Epworth? DJ Erol Alkan? Him out of Bloc Party? Mick Jones from The Clash? One of the ladies from Ladytron?

No, it was...

The band has an audience of idiots.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

I think "Fuck Forever" is an awesome single.

Who Are You, Buster Gonad? (Bent Over at the Arclight), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

I'd rather have one of Atomic Kitten liking my band than Paul 'Phones' Epworth, DJ Erol Alkan, him out of Bloc Party, Mick Jones from The Clash, or one of the ladies from Ladytron

OTM buster

hearing this i actually started to think he was a genius

Babyshambles (and the Libertines) are crap at music, as I'm sure they intend. Take away the epiphenomena and you'll hear better down the pub. But they are essential. If you have the confidence to remove technique, talent, and skill from an art form and still set the agenda, then (like Duchamp, Emin, Jarman . . .) you are doing something right.

all bunged up (Jake Proudlock), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

Big huge dud.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

Seems like dud, but the Libertines were ace.

sorry could you explain this in words that make sense?

N_RQ, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

That lead singer Pete is a bit annoying, I am suprised he didnt just name the band after himself though, seeing as no one else knows who else is in the band.

Ha ha:

Kate Moss was today accused of indulging in a massive cocaine session - two years after she said she had given up drugs for good. The supermodel, mother of a two year old girl, is pictured in the Daily Mirror apparently chopping out line after line of the class A drug.

The undercover pictures were taken at a west London studio where her boyfriend Pete Doherty is recording the new Babyshambles album.

They appear to show Moss - said by the newspaper to have kept her "mammoth stash" in her handbag - cutting fat lines of cocaine on the back of a CD cover and sharing them with Doherty and his entourage.

Ex-Clash guitarist Mick Jones, producing the record, is also seen snorting cocaine from the stash. Moss has admitted in general terms to past drugs problems but has never admitted taking cocaine.

I love this soap opera. It runs on and on, endlessly amusing.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Thursday, 15 September 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

i do so wish they'd all go away.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 15 September 2005 08:35 (twenty years ago)

I wish they'd bring back Carlos. He was so much prettier than Kate Moss.

I met that Pete fellow a while back and he called me "a stupid cuntface cunt", which was very upsetting. And just uncalled for. I do not believe he is professional, in addition to be insulting. :-(

Chris "Chris" Martin, Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

Talk about projection from Pete there.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:50 (twenty years ago)

that's quite an impressive insult, mind.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

six months pass...
Are they playing a gig at Old Blue Last on Great Eastern Street tonight, or is that just a stupid internet rumour?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 7 April 2006 18:32 (twenty years ago)

new album produced by stephen street this year...

titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 1 June 2007 16:31 (nineteen years ago)

Classic. Down In Albion is about 10 times better now than it was 2005. Some good songs on the new album.

I'm a little more than halfway through my first listen of the new album, 'Shotter's Nation', right this second. This is sooo good! Which, is just such a surprise to me. I really thought that Pete was probably too far gone now to ever write any good songs again (without Carl I mean, at least). This is all really concise, focused, and catchy! I was a little scared to listen to this. I thought it might turn out to be just another depressing mess, like 'Albion'. Such a pleasant surprise though, this. This is what 'Albion' needed to be.

andi, Thursday, 27 September 2007 11:11 (eighteen years ago)

This is the thing..

He's such a waste of time, I'm loathe to give him money for anything.

I got the first album off a nice link, quite liked it.

Single free off NME, not played. The track I hear on the radio, yep quite alright.

Does anyone know is this is going to get a simultaneous American release? Or are we going to have to wait eons again to get it over here?

I just heard 'Fuck Forever' again recently, and I suddenly realized that I have to idea what that's supposed to mean. Is it the same as "(I'm) fucked forever"? Or is it talking about having sexual intercourse for eternity? Is this a British phrase I'm unfamiliar with?

Jesus X, the Arthropod Barrista (res), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 20:26 (sixteen years ago)

blimey guvnah, stone the crows and fuck forever, he's 'alf inched me jam tart.

the shock will be coupled with the need to dance (jim), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 20:28 (sixteen years ago)

I'll choose to answer that as a serious question, and would posit that Mr Doherty is recommending that one live for today, and never mind the long-term consequences. A strategy that will work out well for him, I'm sure.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 21:07 (sixteen years ago)

I quite like the tune, actually, but the vocals on it are the worst of any track I can think of.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 1 July 2009 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

Is this a British phrase I'm unfamiliar with?

No, it isn't.

f1f0 (Pashmina), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 21:38 (sixteen years ago)

Considering the existencialist nature of Doherty I think it refers to 'fuck forever' as in fuck happily forever ever after.

that makes sense; it's not an interpretation I had thought of. thanks!
