The things we return to for solid pleasure

There's stuff i return to that I know I'm gonna love. Genres, artists, times.

As opposed to investigation, or a quest for the new, the challenging, the disruptive.

Palisir vs Joussance.

What are yours...why?

bonus qs: pleasure vs joissance. does the "orgasmic" always simply become the "pleasurable"?

mine is mid 70's-early 80's "sophisticated" black dance styles. maybe reggae from the same era.

i don't think that jouissance inevitably fades into (mere?) plaisir. more often than not, those intense bang-wow orgasmic pop wonders fade into a sort of irrelevancy.

anyway, for me "astral weeks" and okkervil river's "don't fall in love with everyone you see" are major 'pleasures' (although sometimes, listening to the former, i find myself in an ecstatic mode of discovery, once again). while something like the new m.i.a. is, yeah, jouissant.

good q.

always Saint Etienne, and it's my ability to ALWAYS do this, that, for me, means that they're my very favourite band of all. I even joined the fan club! free Xmas CDs!

There are several other albums as well, Archer Prewitt's Three, Bruce Cockburn's Charity of Night, Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love.

anything by jewel makes me sticky and sometimes I have another to share it with.

i dunno. is there period of ones's life where these experiences take hold and then cotinue to colour everything?
