Aphex Twin - Fenix Funk
Prefuse 73 f. Ghostface & El-P - Hideyaface
Daft Punk - Robot Rock
MIA - MIA
Kylie - (Can't Start) Giving You Up / Made of Glass
The Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

To my surprise and only mild embarassment, the new Clem Snide is kicking my ass (although you'll only like it if you liked them before, but were cravin' a little more edge to their teeth), as is the debut by Final Fantasy, which sounds so obvious as a concept but I guess wasn't, and is mostly totally beautiful and good.

And then there's (obviously) the aforementioned MIA and the DFA comps (which i guess came out before, but...). Oh! And Amerie's "One Thing". Holy crap!

To my surprise and only mild embarassment,
Kelly Clarkson "Since U Been Gone".
I think it kinda sounds like Weezer. A little.
Might get sick of it, we'll see.

The guitar solo in "Since U Been Gone" sounds to me like it was lifted from the YYY's "Maps."

In any case it's the first song of hers I can remember anything about when I'm not listening to it.

wow. that kelly clarkson song IS amazing. so that's what i missed while in croatia!

The Kelly Clarkson song sounds like Interpol with a pop vocalist.

The official version of the new Beck album showed up today. Listening to it now, and "Hell Yes" is exactly the same as "Hell Yeah."

Meh, it's still not entirely official. "Chain Reaction" is in here, only it's been labelled "Farewell Ride."

Actually, now that I think about it, this is just the same batch that leaked 2 weeks ago with new tags and titles. Stoopid slsk ne'er-do-wells.

mentioned elsewhere but the new rhythm and sound package is great. scritti politti early reissue on rough trade is so long overdue. can't wait to have it on nice cd quality rather than the shitty mp3s of the 4 a sides I've got.

The new Jeans Team album, "musik von oben" is excellent

Cadence Weapon Is The Black Hand. You all really need to hear this record. Rollie is a boy genius.

Just got a very sharp Alec K. Redfearn & the Eyesores album in the mail--crazy art-music with accordion. Also loving the Motown early singles boxed set.

Douglas (Douglas), Sunday, 30 January 2005 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a new Eyesores record!!

Sean M (Sean M), Sunday, 30 January 2005 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

New Kills album - No Wow
Head Automatica - Decadence
Futureheads- Hounds of Love
also I heard the Rilo Kily -More Adventurous, and Postal Service (who I'm in shock over quite liking) first this week.

Plus since that list looks far too sensible, Katy Rose's "Whore/Fuck your drugs" teen angsting on 'Keeping it Together' (UK bonus track only, I wonder why!).
