"Attagirl" - Bettie Serveert

I heard the title track this morning and it pleased me enough to get me a bit curious about the new album (also factoring in that they're playing here next week -- should I go?). However, I see that they're covering Bright Eyes ("Lover I Don't Have To Love") on it so it's been basically one step forward, one step back.

Anyone heard it?

I saw them live about a year ago and was taken aback by how fantastic they sounded. Really tight and energetic. They opened with a version of "Palomine" that actually made my hair stand on end. There are, in my opinion, a lot of bum songs in their catalog, but they steered clear of most of them when I saw them.

I used to love that 'Tom Boy' song if that counts. You both have made me want to dig out those cds, but for some reason my Betty Serves obsession only lasted a couple of days

I'm curious to hear these last two albums. Just not enough to pay money. I still love Dust Bunnies a lot.

Still waiting anxiously to hear it, but if it proceeds from the excellent Log 22 I'll be a happy man. That one turned up on the jukebox at the local, and gets lots of play on my nights out. Orange indy 4-ever.

Really? I like their records but I always thought they tended towards the Crazy Horse end of the tightness spectrum.

Bettie Serveert has been going downhill lately. Private Suit didn't receive the honour it should've had. So if you're going to buy one of BS latest one should go for Private Suit. The latest 2 (Log 22 & Attagirl) just suck.

I need to hear the more recent Bettie Serveert albums. I agree with Miccio about Dust Bunnies.

Pharmacy of Love is also, despite it's questionable title, pretty great.

Was wondering if pharmacy of love is worth picking up - anyone else heard it? It's in my shopping cart but have an itchy finger over the delete/cancel button (by the way dig their first three very much)

Can confirm. Log 22 is a perfect record. Check out "Given".

Just realized it's been eight years since they came through the US. Glad I caught them since it seems less and less likely to happen again.
