In one song alone The Killers have this wrapped.
And Andy You're a Star is just perfect too.

I must say that I'm amazed (and pleased) The Killers are getting US top-40 love. They sound so distinct from everything else on the charts except for (shockingly) Kelly Clarkson.

Is that really so amazing, Dan? I mean, it's not like they're Neubauten. They're a great POP band!

Compare their singer to every other singer on top-40 radio; not only does no one sound like him, but no one's even close to existing in that same vocal idiom; it really is a new wave throwback and it's somewhat startling to see people gravitate towards it (my wife absolutely loves these guys and the type of music they play isn't really her thing at all; she's much more in the Shania Twain school of music appreciation when it comes to non-classical). Also, the fact that they stick out SO much on contemporary top-40 radio is what's getting to me; they've definitely been picked as the "token indie-rock" group now that Franz Ferdinand has had their five seconds of US exposure.

(Shakes out of reverie) Oh yeah - The Killers. Coupla very cool singles. If your point is that at one time in 1964, the Stones were just a group with a coupla very cool singles, so who knows, I'm with you. But if you're measuring them both in the here and now, surely decades of cool singles and albums count for something.

PS As I said before on another thread, I have no clue why people find "Mr. Brightside" catchy. "Somebody Told me" - hell yes. Undeniable. But "Mr. Brightside?!" Really? I can barely recall how it goes, and I heard it 10 times at least.
Oh, and, multiple x-post, "Since U Been Gone" is a perfect pop pastry on the level of "Voices Carry." I love it, "Maps" bridge and all.
