They're different from Illegales, the new-ish group that would be much more my thing.
(by the way RS I haven't forgotten your salsa disc, it's STILL awesome, I'm stealing my wife's computer so I can burn you a big fat mexican disc in return)

Thought they became Tito & the Tarantulas, a band that also was the Mexican vampire roadhouse band in "From Dusk til Dawn." My ex-wife liked it. I always thought it sounded like band from LA hackwork.

Pretty sure Tito Larriva wasn't in Los Illegals, although some other Tarantulas might have been. (I heard the latter through party chatter once, and wanna say they seemed like early early T. Heads--like "Psycho Killer," ony faster louder and with Spanish instead of French in the lyrics? That may be wrong though) Tito Larriva (spelling?)was the leader of the Plugz, who used to do shows with early Black Flag, X, Flesheaters, Los Lobos (yknow there was that Chicano input to the pre-TalibanHardcore Cali punk scene, and weren't the Zeros Chicano? Alexandro Escovedo in the Nuns and Dils, Nuclear Valdez meybe? Never heard this last). Used to love me some Plugz on "New Wave Theatre," on The USA Network (young folks don't believe USA was ever cool, but they had a few essential shows before MTV let punks etc. on). Then Tito had the Cruzados, who coud be incredible live, but the albums (which I've still got somewhere) I recall thinking of as good, song by song, but overall too mellow (they were opening for F.Mac, Petty, R.E.M., Bruce, and trying be like ig bottom jangle with a Latin tinge in the harmonies, or so it seemed at the time). Tito and the Tarantulas also did some music for Desperado, and a couple of their own albums, which I haven't heard (From Dusk Til Dawn was one of the worst movies I've ever seen--even aside from gore that ranges from horrifying when they set the guy on fire to bring excess in the endless barroom fight, Tarentino surely is one of the ugliest mugs ever to deface the Silver Screen, and his "character" was like a cockroach on the nose of a quadriplegic--so the music didn't really register. I'm told Desperado is a lot better, and see that Link Wray is also on the soundtrack).

"the latter" meant to refer to Los Illegals, re early-singles Talking Heads etc. Cruzados'"ig bottom jangle" meant to be "big bottom jangle" (no Ig imput, for better or worse)

It's good but not essential. To me. I was interested in hearing them when I read about them years ago in LAND OF 1000 DANCES, that book about East L.A. Chicano rock. Some time later I peeped it in a used store, had the man behind the counter play it for me...wasn't bad, and it was only $5.99, but it wasn't anything I had to have.
