This is the way it SHOULD be.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Expect lots of 80s Italo Disco and latino then.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

rentboy (rentboy), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

(mentalism!:)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

they'll probably include Nuance's "Love Ride,' which I can't find on CD...

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

sweeeet.

gspm (gspm), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Some acid-house classic placed next to a showtune

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, niiiiiice.

lundy fastnet irish sea (cis), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I still find the idea of a compilation put together only on the grounds that these tracks are liked by a certain artist or group is a bit thin. And this is not because "Back To Mine" is a dance compilation, as I would find a compilation of, say, Oasis' or Coldplay's favourite music just as uninteresting as this one. (A compilation put together by Sondre Lerche would be good though, only I would already own most of it already anyway)

Compilations work better if music from a certain genre is carefully put together in a way where one is wondering whether larger portions of people into that genre would like these tunes together.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I would like to see a Geir Hongro Back to Mine.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I would like to see Geir Hongro's back to mine.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I would like to see Geir Hongro's back stabbed 79 times with a carving knife.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hooray for the pert shop boys.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that pert these days

davidsim (davidsim), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

geir hongo agreed....

who gives a fuck what tricky listens to at home?

Theres too many great unknown Djs (cherrystones) out there with a love for the music to fill up the shelves with Ian browns favourite 10 records on that day.

the all back to mine compilation was much better as every artist chose one track.

all back to mine - regal recordings.

still one of the best ever compilations

Danny Boy, Friday, 18 March 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

who, by that standard, gives a fuck what sean rowley listens to at home?

who gives a fuck what anyone listens to?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 18 March 2005 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello Carlin's Back The Fuck Off, You Cunt

(I too want to see Geir's tracklist, but I certainly don't want to ever hear the CD)

kit, Saturday, 19 March 2005 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I'm not that big of a PSB fan, really, but I'm curious to see what will come from this.

Bimble... (Bimble...), Saturday, 19 March 2005 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I still find the idea of a compilation put together only on the grounds that these tracks are liked by a certain artist or group is a bit thin

davidsim (davidsim), Saturday, 19 March 2005 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, "Take Chance" / "Dirty Talk" / "Passion" in a row is so killer.

Mike O. (Mike Ouderkirk), Saturday, 19 March 2005 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I was right about Chris Lowe searching a lot of Italo Disco then. "Don't Cry Tonight" is a damn good choice btw.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm kind of disappointed Chris rates Justice Vs Simian. Neil and Dettinger is a cool choice. I take it that's the Kom100 thing.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 20 March 2005 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

What a great tracklisting! Lot of unfamiliar names plus a lot of things I've heard of but not heard. Wonderful!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Woah Grieg. The Gilels record of the Lyric Pieces is completely awesome.

Bumfluff, Sunday, 20 March 2005 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i agree with ronan on that JVS track. this is really great though, the first four on chris' cd are mega mega classic!! i will have to close my eyes and imagine neil and chris doing what they do at home, whatever that may be.

monia.l (monia.l), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Not the Neil-chosen Dusty Springfield track I would've guessed in a million yrs, but what the hey! Elgar and Roedelius to a disco beat.

lovebug starski (lovebug starski), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay! "Born This Way"!

Arthur (Arthur), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahah, I KNEW you would notice that!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I just showed my boyfriend (who's Italian and the biggest PSB fan) the tracklisting, and he screamed and ran into the sitting toom and came back with the Matia Bazar album: "It's my all-time favourite".

davidsim (davidsim), Sunday, 20 March 2005 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I the only one who knows barely anything on either disc except the Italo and Dettinger?

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 20 March 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Possible inclusions?

Bobby O

Oh yes! I was thinking the same thing. That or some Flirts. But alas no.

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Sunday, 20 March 2005 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh shit, just noticed, some Flirts. Whatever.

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Sunday, 20 March 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, the tracklistings look very good. i am completely suspicious of these compilations, but this one is hard to argue with.

basquiat (disco stu), Sunday, 20 March 2005 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

7. QUEEN - ‘THE SHOW MUST GO ON’

fantastic. my favourite queen song and -fact- one of the saddest songs imaginable.

hey! celestail choir AND justice vs. simian!!

piscesboy, Sunday, 20 March 2005 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh shit, just noticed, some Flirts. Whatever. A

"Passion" was also a Bobby O production, wasn't it?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the Justice vs Simian track is really fun

Sven Bastard (blueski), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Neil Tennant one seems kind of weird (also surprised he has no Joy Division in there, as apparently they were what he was most of all into before he met Chris), but Chris' selections are certainly interesting.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Neil Tennant's disc seems like the most obviously ambient, old skool Back To Mine disc yet.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I the only one who knows barely anything on either disc

Yes. My first thought was damn, I really don't know much of this.

Bimble... (Bimble...), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought Tenant might rep Deborah Strickland-Evans on this, just based on my listening to 'Left To My Own Devices' again on Frenchbloke's latest mix and comparing the vocal style

Sven Bastard (blueski), Monday, 21 March 2005 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
tennant's disc flows so nicely that i suspect he spends a large proportion of his life making compilations for friends ...

dh, Friday, 22 April 2005 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Glad to hear he's doing something useful with his life

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 22 April 2005 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i actually prefer the chris disc... but they're both so great

rentboy (rentboy), Friday, 29 April 2005 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i want to hear this SO BAD (agreed abt "take a chance"/"dirty talk"/"passion" - three of the greatest songs ever back to back!)

joseph (joseph), Friday, 29 April 2005 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Show Must Go On" into "Stand On The Word" works astonishingly well.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Friday, 29 April 2005 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
This is really great.

bugged out, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, the VIDEO KID!?!?!?!

this sort've shatters my faith in the PSB! don't like shitty side-projects from awful wellington dub bands, neil! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

etc, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Heroes have feet of clay. I really need to get this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

me too. this looks sweet. why didi i not know about this? am i buying too many records these days? probably!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

You really do have to hear the Neil Tennant CD... it's sublime.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

are the dusty songs leftovers from psb days ?
i liked "in private","nothing has been proved" and "what have i done to deserve this".

chris tennant, Thursday, 19 May 2005 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
it's OUT?????

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Monday, 13 June 2005 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
it's good.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Saturday, 20 August 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

how good?

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 21 August 2005 05:53 (twenty years ago)

that vessel track on neil's disc is gorgeous

joseph (joseph), Sunday, 21 August 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

it's really good.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 21 August 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

ten months pass...
the NT disc on this is magnificent. contantly surprising with some beautiful choices The Elgar choon sounds brilliant. It would have been perfect were it not for that Video Kid track. the CL one is... decent, i guess? i think the tracks are a bit obvious and as a whole it's, surprisingly, not that well sequenced. Queen into Celestial choir works very well, as Mike-t-d stated upthread but otherwise it's a bit clunky. i suppose i'm not the target audience for it because the stuff that i like i already have and the other stuff i don't particularly like. the Matia Bazar track is awful though.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 30 June 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

put this full stop in there where it's needed

.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 30 June 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

The Bazar track is amazing, it's like a freestyle/rock hybrid!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 30 June 2006 16:11 (nineteen years ago)

three years pass...

I can't find a copy of this anywhere, but that song by the Celestial Choir is the ultimate.
