The new spike jonze commercial is here: http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/1586/

I think it awesome, a little Gondry-like too. Also Karen O sings a beautiful song that I can't find anywhere. Anyone know where I can find it?

This commercial is kind of frightening. It doesn't make me want those shoes at all.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Spike Jonze was really trying too hard to sell the shoe, he probably could care less, I don't know. I think the commercial is rad but I don't anticipate actually seeing it on TV.

jmeister (jmeister), Friday, 18 March 2005 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a 30 second version for tv... and the music is by squeak e. clean... he's a hip hop producer ordinarily. and yes those are karen o's vocals. they're working on a record together.

fwiw, the spot did kinda make me want the shoes. but then i like to walk upside down.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a very claustrophobic commercial for me. I don't think I could even watch it again.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, i want this song too.

anyone?

reo, Friday, 18 March 2005 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

info on that record anywhere? from the spot it sounds like it could be a great record.

jmeister (jmeister), Friday, 18 March 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't isolate the audio using Total Recorder (since it doesn't work with my quicktime).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i cant find the song on slsk but on limewire a search for "karen o adidas" yields a 90 second version of the song. It may only be that long.

jmeister (jmeister), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The song sounds like a Jon Brion special. Maybe Karen O. can collaborate with Fiona Apple.

Jon Brion?!

x-post

J-Meister, you can totally expect to see it on TV. I saw it at least a half-dozen times last night during the TNT NBA broadcast.

doesn't work.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 18 March 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

you have to click the free option at the bottom, then wait your turn.

pretty lame system.

wolves!, Friday, 18 March 2005 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks! Unfortunately, it sounds like someone put a mic next to their speakers, but it'll do for now. I'll try to figure out a way to get a better version.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 18 March 2005 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll record it right now... for anyone who doesn't have wiretap on their mac... you must. i don't have a link but it's very googlable. just look up "wiretap",".aiff","record","soundcard" or something like that... it records any audio coming through on your soundcard.

I found an mp3 but it sounds like it needs to be unscrambled..

http://home.thirdage.com/Photography/noodlethescientist/yeahyeahyeahs-adidas1adbetterversion.mp3

Supposedly the song is called "Hello Tomorrow."

Mr. Harvey Weinstein (mr harvey weinstein), Friday, 18 March 2005 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

are you just assuming because of the last name, or?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 18 March 2005 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I am assuming it because I have met him. His name is Sam Spiegel and he is Spike Jonze's brother.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

simmer down harvey. was just asking. your reputation does precede you. i've read about your bloodthirsty ways in defamer.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

but yeah, that did sound harsh. Sorry. Either way, he seems like a nice guy and the song is great, so if there's an album of this on the way, I'm excited.

Mr. Harvey Weinstein (mr harvey weinstein), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah im looking forward to this being made into a full tune.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

as much as i want a new yeah yeah yeahs record, i could stand to wait for it if this is coming soon. i really really love this song.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

On Limewire it can be found, quality sound, search "karen o adidas" a 90 second version comes up it sounds complete. Im meisterj on slsk it in my main folder "my downloads". there are only like fives songs in there so it should be easy to find.
