...Villalobos?
...Mannie Fresh?

"Guitar heroes"? And he asked you that with a straight face?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I got asked this question at a job interview once.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I answered CC DeVille, of course.

I didn't get the job.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, a straight face.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

say jandek

I got the job because I was so mean, while somehow appearing so kind. (AaronHz), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Did Mannie Fresh do the slide guitar in Mack 10's "Connected For Life"?? If so then he's one of my guitar heroes too. I always figured he had some help with stuff like guitars. I know he always had GREAT live bass but someone else played it.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, a straight face.

I would've said Armand Van Helden, just for the Confusing Nonclemature Factor ("Eddie Van Halen?" "No, Armand Van Helden!" "Huh?" Rinse, repeat).

Either that, or Clyde Stubblefield, just to really confuse the issue.

Tantrum (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

JERRY GARCIA

Ian John50n (orion), Friday, 18 March 2005 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Usually an easy way to get rid of these folks is a quick and painless "Hendrix". Everyone's happy.

Kevin Sheilds!

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 18 March 2005 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I woulda just yelled "YOU'RE MY GITAH HERO!" See if he's got an answer for that.

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Friday, 18 March 2005 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, yes exactly, that's what i immediately thought upon reading the thread title

jake b. (cerybut), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Eric Clapton, but don't tell Marc Weingarten that.

Not really. I just didn't think any proper "guitar heroes" thread would be complete without mentioning Clapton at least once.

ffirehorse, Friday, 18 March 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That was twice, once too many.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the guitar villains question I find more interesting.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Who would be on the definitive list of guitar villains?

Tantrum (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

That guy from Static X.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the majority of nu-metal plank-spankers would have to be on there.

Tantrum (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 18 March 2005 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, John Squire would be a more original answer.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 18 March 2005 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sure pete townshend's guitars hated him.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Friday, 18 March 2005 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Her from The Faders

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 18 March 2005 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Nigel Tufnel. If he existed.

Tantrum (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 19 March 2005 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

ilm person: 'Fuck you, rockist!' *grabs Ashlee Simpson CDs and storms out*

shookout (shookout), Saturday, 19 March 2005 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Here's a real gutter hero!

Austin (Austin), Saturday, 19 March 2005 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the Rock & Roll Space Bandits (from The Superfriends)

donut debonair (donut), Saturday, 19 March 2005 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the whole idea of a "guitar hero" seems kind of antiquated, especially when they are talked about like this schmoe:

Sara Sherr, Saturday, 19 March 2005 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

why the hell would someone ask a non-guitarist this question? or do you tell all your coworkers that you are in a Stryper cover band?

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

If you meant Heitor Villa-Lobos, that would actually be an appropriate answer.
