See ILE for more details.

Let's keep the afterbirth and throw Ian Riese-Moraine away! (Eastern Mantra), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Jane vs. Nancy = Nancy
Jane vs. Serge = Serge
Nanxy vs. Frank = Nancy

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 20 March 2005 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

on what basis are we comparing them?

nancy has some ok singles, but really she's just a footnote.

But what glorious feet.

Nanxy vs. Frank = Nancy

Are out of your freaking mind? Do you own any Frank Sinatra records, you nudnik?

Sois pas si bete, Sunday, 20 March 2005 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i'd prefer fucking nancy over a dead frank. ;-)

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Sunday, 20 March 2005 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I like "69 Erotic Year" or whatever much better than anything by Nancy Sinatra. Frank was a greater artiste than Serge, but I mean I like Serge just fine. So, Jane, Frank and Serge.

edd s hurt (ddduncan), Monday, 21 March 2005 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this just records under Nancy's name or does it include the ones with Hazelwood?

Jane vs. Nancy = If 'Nancy & Lee', then Nancy; otherwise, J.
Jane vs. Serge = Serge
Nancy vs. Frank = Frank, far and away

Zed Szetlian (Finn MacCool), Monday, 21 March 2005 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
Jane + Serge (they win hands down for "Jane B." and "Lolita Go Home" alone) then Nancy + Lee (leave Frank outta this one).

What about Brigitte Bardot? Do you like the original version of "Je t'aime... moi non plus" with Brigitte more than the better known version with Jane Birkin?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, Brigitte beats Jane by the strenght of "Bonnie & Clyde" and "Harley Davidson" alone.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The Bardot version of "Je T'Aime" smokes the Birkin version. The arrangement is better: it's more swoonsome (?), the strings are more prominent, the drums sound like they're being played underwater (this is a good thing), and as a whole it's more Spectorian.

Plus, Jane's accent bugs me (yes, I know that's part of her charm). The Bardot version smoulders, while the Jane version is too cutesy.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the Bardot version available?

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

60s Nancy beats 60s Jane, but Rendez-Vous edges out Nancy's recent solo album, and Arabesque clobbers the pitiful, helpless Nancy & Lee 3.

Curt (cgould), Friday, 22 April 2005 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Arabesque well regarded? I gave it a spin and thought it pretty dull.

Zed Szetlian (Finn MacCool), Friday, 22 April 2005 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Nancy & Lee 3, of course, is terrible.

Zed Szetlian (Finn MacCool), Friday, 22 April 2005 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Answer : One per fist
