joy division's "unknown pleasures" (the vinyl) didn't have a side one and side two, but an "inside" and an "outside". IIRC, the run-out-groove message on the "inside" reads: "this is the way, step ..."

... which of course would become the refrain from "atrocity exhibition", the first song on "closer".
