80s hits where the 7" and 12" versions are absolutely identical, without even so much as an extra track, thus disappointing you hugely when you get back from the second-hand store

my old flatmates and i did that once with black sabbath's "into the void" and joy division's "transmission". through guitar amps.

it sucked.

NB: i mean two versions of each song at a time. not "void" and "transmission" together.

but the point is..12" sound better. and are easier to mix with.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Monday, 21 March 2005 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh, 'cos i'm sure loads of people mixed with "4-neu" and "the romance of the telescope". they could at least have stuck an extra track on the b-side. miserable sods.

wow, i think i have (very) delayed anger issues towards OMD here.

doesn't the label of the Transmission 12" have a misprint that claims that the song is 7 or 8 minutes long? i'm sure it's Transmission that i'm thinking of. i was practically wetting myself with anticipation on the bus home after buying it, and when i got back...same as ever. which is still brilliant, obviously, but 7 or 8 minutes of Transmission? duuuuude!
