The Campaign for Realness and Honour in Music (CAM'RHM) would like to point out for the record that when she escaped war in Sri Lanka, she did on an enormous golden litter carried by starving dancehall artists.

M.I.A. is sooooooooo last week.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha that i-D quote!

i love scotch, scotchy scotch scotch (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

That i-D quote is more OTM when it comes to cheesy reviews than 90% of what's been said on ILM!

mike h. (mike h.), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, thats the worst flyer i've seem for a long long time, is it a parody?

jk____gabba.cc, Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't see anything wrong with that flyer. it takes her aesthetic and tweaks it. i like the diagonal text (not exactly 45 degrees because that would be too easy)

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
In case anyone was planning a trip to this, it's been cancelled. More details here: http://boomparty.net/

Similar thing happened last year with both Chips and Club Suicide announcing that they were putting MIA on that month. CS were the victors. MIA's agents/managers: biggest bunch of pricks since Whitey (who also screwed over a whole host of club promoters by pulling out of gigs at the last minute)?

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

M.I.A. - Like Maya Arulpragasam had Peaches been her music teacher.

i also love how the original ad makes it sound like she recorded "Galang" and "Sunshowers" when she was six er something

looj, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

two months pass...
So is anyone else going to see them at Fabric tonight. I hope she's on before 1 as i'm not really up for a late one and I fear I am likely to be bored by Krafty Kuts and Stanton Warriors on account of being a fun-hating lenk.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 17 June 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

What's funny is Diplo came to my weekly, and I had no idea who he was at the time.

(we were hosting Morgan Geist, but I don't know if he knew that prior)

PappaWheelie (PappaWheelie), Friday, 17 June 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

are M.I.A. and diplo still playing together? i heard he wasn't the DJ for the NYC shows, and i think he even played a show of his own on one of the same nights.

rajeev (rajeev), Friday, 17 June 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

He wasn't the DJ for the DC show, but he spun later that night across town. I think they're touring together but playing different venues if that makes sense?

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Friday, 17 June 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

Is anyone going to MIA's gig in Manchester on the 28th of june ?
