The M of M Speicher

thought it was good first, now think it is really really brilliant.

reminds me of Tonetraeger-Welcome Back Kotter (Mayer/Thomas Mix) off Smallville. Really driving clean tech-house, I can't wait to play this near that Superpitcher DJ Hell remix.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Jena (JenaP), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Jena (JenaP), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

rave never went away.

Jena (JenaP), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

whoa!

i have the feeling that this is the kind of track you need to hear out in a club. i can't really get with it on my bedroom speakers, but it has that big, epic sound that makes me feel like it would be perfect if i heard it out at like, 5 am....

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yesterday, in the car, 9.30 in the morning. magic! hahaha

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this may be part of my first Kompakt-MP3 store haul next time I have some spare money.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

fantastic

rive.r (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

whoa, that yousendit was spent quick.

the leglo (the leglo), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, this is good, but probably would work best in a DJ set - I could see Mix 2 during the peak time of a Triple R set.

On the other hand, this is probably the most Detroit/Maurizio flavored Speicher yet.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 24 March 2005 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I find this kinda retrograde to be honest. Yeah, it's nice, but it could have come out 10 years ago, unlike most of the Speicher series. It makes it seem like people are running out of new ideas for what works on the dancefloor and returning to the cliches.

Jacob (Jacob), Thursday, 24 March 2005 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's beautiful, one for those "oh suddenly it's dark, I'm alone on the dancefloor, lost in smoke" moments before the DJ pulls you out.

Omar (Omar), Thursday, 24 March 2005 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it really regressive? I dunno, I think regardless it's my favourite Speicher since Brutalaga Square, and there have been some good ones.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

It makes it seem like people are running out of new ideas for what works on the dancefloor and returning to the cliches.

i dont think westbam and jankuhn have had a new idea since like 1998. but you have to admit, their cliches work

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Thursday, 24 March 2005 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

They had new ideas in the late '90s?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 24 March 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

many credit them with the invention of the rudderless boat

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

'one world one future' sounded pretty fresh at the time, but then that was motte & westbam. xpost

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

But seriously Jacob, do you dismiss something for sounding 'retrograde'? Drexciya sounded pretty damn ancient, but brilliant nonetheless. We have Of Montreal and a slew of others on the other side of the spectrum too.

Jena (JenaP), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

No, totally not, but on Speicher the whole point of the series seems to me to have been about having quite unique new takes on the harder end of dance music and chucking them out there to see if they stick, "Brutalga Square" being a brilliant example - completely irresistible in a functional dancefloor sense but also very "new".

I mean I'm completely NOT criticising this as a dance record, just as a speicher record if you get me...

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm you may be right, but......put it on on a nice big soundsystem, the part where it doubles up will kill you!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but his dying words will be "It's still not Speicher".

Alba (Alba), Friday, 25 March 2005 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

after listening to this several times, all i can say is - i can't believe we're having the basic channel revival already.

stirmonster, Friday, 25 March 2005 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I am a Basic Channel illiterate, I really need to sort that out.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 March 2005 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
prototypes is this years mayday anthem, which makes the track the first speicher release with a video

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Saturday, 30 April 2005 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The video mix of the song is even better than the one on the Kompakt release. Time to find that other 12"...

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Saturday, 30 April 2005 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It's probably on the Low Spirit 12 inch of Prototypes.

Tobias Rapp (Tobias Rapp), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it is.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Saturday, 30 April 2005 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i went out on thursday night that was advertising UPLIFTING SPIRITUAL HOUSE AND SOULFUL GARAGE. they played a white label remix of "talk about our love". unfortunately they left out kanye instead of speeding him up chipmunk-style but it was still better than this.

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 30 April 2005 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

in fact, just about everything they played was better than this crap. basic channel? this is barely as good as circulation.

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 30 April 2005 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)
