1) What is that song where the singer goes "Cigarro Cigarro!"?

2) Is it a new song?

3) If so/not, when the fuck are they going to come out with another album? I was starting to really like those guys.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a new song. It's called "Cigaro".

I think new album is due in a couple months, with another to follow later in the year.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay!

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 06:41 (twenty-one years ago)

great single

charleston charge (chaki), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

"can't you see that you love my cock?
can't you see that i love my cock?
can't you see that we love my cock?"

best lyrics ever. the new album cannot fail to be awesome.

Lee F# (fsharp), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, I love these guys.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

yay!

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Album due 15/6 May, Hypnotize.

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

This song is so fucking killer! OMG I'm always afraid to bring them up among my friends, everyone I know hates these guys!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The two albums out this year are Hypnotize and then, later, Mesmerize. I think they had originally intended to do a double-album, but, um, didn't...I guess.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

theya re really nice guys

charleston charge (chaki), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

The new single, "BYOB (Bring Your Own Bombs) is RIDICULOUS. If you liked "Cigaro," you should go apeshit for this one (I know I have). Gigantic slabs of heavy ass guitars, and Serj melodically singing about going to a party, and then screams "Why do they always take the poor?" or something. First (and probably only) song that mixes good time party messages with warfare, and certainly the only song I've ever heard which recasts the Iraq war with a party in the dessert, only with bombs replacing beers.

I can't wait for Mesmerize.

Dan Alper (Kenyonthug), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Fishbone's "Party At Ground Zero" dates this song by almost 20 years.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, pre-dates. Yeah.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Nice. I admit I sorta looked at them askance initially but Toxicity was mighty fine. New album should be a treat.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, did you miss Steal This Album!?!?!?!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

*coughs* Album in the non 'assemble a bunch of bits together' sense. (I like both kinds of albums myself.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Steal This Album was frustrating. I wish they had run "Innervisions" as their single rather than "BOOM". "Innervisions" is one of my favoritest distorted-guitar-havin' songs on this whole planet.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck that "release a single type of single" crap - I wanted them to drop the "PIZZA PIZZA PIE!" track on the kiddies!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The pizza pie song was one of my favorites! Kids LOVE that song!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

the closing "melle mel'ism" on cigaro is a dope ending

natlawdp, Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

What Eighties R&B song does that "Everybody's going to the party / Have a real good time" line in "BYOB" remind me of?

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't dig them until I heard the song Toxicity. I remember at the time I was living in a house with the guy who now plays guitar in Capitol Years, and I told him that the song was, surprisingly, actually kinda good, expecting him to laugh in my face since he comes off as a total indie rock dude, but instead he also admitted to thinking it was awesome. I had this experience with almost every musician or music snob I know.

Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 24 March 2005 02:52 (twenty-one years ago)

SoaD rocks.

AaronHz of a Down (AaronHz), Thursday, 24 March 2005 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I first saw them in some video on MTV; don't remember the song. Just remember thinking, "o christ, ANOTHER one of these bands? what is with this crap?" Then I next saw live footage of them in that banned Ozzfest documentary We Sold Our Souls For Rock & Roll, and I thought "hmm, this really is not my kind of thing, but man these guys are pretty intense." Then I read Sundar raving about them on ILM sometime in 2002 or 2003 and thought, "Ok, let me download some of this stuff." Then I listened to some tracks and I was like "Shit, this stuff is GREAT! Why was I such a dumbass!" Then I bought Toxicity.

Can't wait to hear the new one.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 24 March 2005 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"Chop Suey" is my favorite rock single of the past 5 years, but I never got around to checking out the album. heard "BYOB" for the first time today and it was awesome, might have to break down and get the new one.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 March 2005 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I really, really, like 'Chop Suey', but haven't yet found anything else as good as that.

'Toxicity', the track, just makes me laugh. Which is a good thing.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I interviewed them once and they passed me a hash pipe and said "smoke this. It'll make you feel mellow!" I thought that was needlessly patronising. Good band, though.

Has anyone heard any of the bands on Serj's (think it's Serj) label? One of them was called Bad Acid Trip

DJ Mencap0))), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

The first album Serj released on his imprint, Serjical Strike, was a collaboration with an Armenian multi-instrumentalist named Arno Tuncboyaciyan (sp?) called Serart. It's serawesome. Haven't heard any of the other stuff on the label, though.
