Decibully: C/D?

Of course, I did a thread moments ago on Codeseven. After they went off the stage, this lot (who had two ex-members of The Promise Ring in their rank...how weird!) went up next and they were pretty stellar if a bit inconsistent. Some of their songs sprawled a little bit too much but they weren't bad at all and the musicianship was excellent. I'm not sure how I'd describe them as words are really betraying me at the moment. I bought this Polyvinyl promo sampler afterward and they contribute two songs to it but I have not listened to them yet.

What we want? Sex with T.V. stars! What you want? Ian Riese-Moraine! (Eastern Ma, Wednesday, 23 March 2005 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, considering the personnel involved, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the new record is. Sometimes, the singer reminds me of Glenn Tilbrook in a strange way.

I've had City of Festivals in heavy rotation since we got it months ago.

A couple of songs remind me of The Beautiful South, which I find unfortunate.

"Tables Turn" from City of Festivals is an amazing pop song. Actually one of the best I've heard last year.

seven years pass...

I took these guys for granted for a long time, so I've been taken aback by how much I've come to miss them (and how often I've revisited them) since they nonchalantly disbanded last year.

These are great:

And "I Won't Be Without" and "Little White Girl" from their 2009 pwyc album are tragically pretty: http://decibully.listeningpartyrecords.com/album/world-travels-fast-2

milwaukee! i saw their name around for years before listening to them, just because it sounded like a shitty, really heavy rock band. i was pleasantly surprised.

huh this band is pretty good, man what an awful band name would have never ever checked them out because of that

Yeah, I feel like that band name set them back a lot. It also didn't help that they were recording at a time when indie rock was crowded with ultra-talented bands with a great sense of scale and texture. But looking back at them now that most of those bands are gone, it seems more like Decibully were on to something singularly wonderful
