Two gigantic families with terrible jeri curls doing similar 80s r'n'b.

I bought albums by both of these guys within the past week. Mrs Jaxon's first concert was the Jets, but Debarge has the oft sampled "A Dream" and "Stay With Me".

for upbeat Debarge stuff, start with "Rhythm of the Night," maybe. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their first three albums (not counting 1981's *The Debarges,* which I still have never heard).

Christgau adores In A Special Way. The Jets made crappy dance-pop; DeBarge nailed it on their ballads (though not generally on uptempo tracks). Advantage DeBarge, not even close.
