i heard "up in her room" (is that what it's called? the really long one) on the radio a few weeks ago. it was great. it was like what the stooges would have been like, if everyone in the stooges were genuinely dumb.

'bad part of town' is from 1971, and i think 'did he die' is also (or thereabouts). very remote and unsung corners of their catalogue. though aware of these 2 songs for a long time, i had no desire to actually hear them. because who wants to listen to some mid-60s one-hit wonders of notoriously limited ability, 5 years past their sell-by date? well, eventually i did get to hear them, more through accident then design, and, lo and behold, i found that, much to my suprise, they're, um, pretty remarkable actually. early 70s scuzz rock with guitars fuzzier than ever, and that relentless seeds repetitive thing still firmly in place, only put to much greater effect now. also (no small point, this) Sky has improved as a lyricist... all krautrock fans would like these.anyway, this band's members were not especially more dumb than anyone else who's ever had the genius idea of picking up a guitar and trying to make their own music. a lot less dumb than many, actually.

I watched Bodies, Rest & Motion the other night. The film was sort of interesting, especially Bridget Fonda, but boy, were the Seeds ever mangled. Tim Roth is driving along, "Pushin' Too Hard" starts up--not sure if it was coming over the radio or not--and to match all the fancy cutting of Roth, the song itself gets cut up. So you get about 30 seconds of the Seeds all scrambled up. Quite annoying.

Love, love Nobody Spoil My Fun. Seems to sum up his sinister wheedling unattractive feebly posturing voice. Evil Hoodoo is also great. Love this band so much.

picked up a couple of the edsel reissues from the cheap bins a few weeks ago, and quickly realised i needed to track down the final one for which i had to pay a little more for, but damn, across 3 cds you get so much excellence.other than the dodgy blues album i love this stuff.
the pseudo live album is proper brilliant.
not only that but i then found out that Age of Chance nicked the guitar riff from Evil Hoodoo for their version of Disco Inferno !

I really don't like Mr. Farmer, except for the major-minor key switcharoo in the middle.
Honorable mention: I'll Help You (Carry Your Money To The Bank)
