So I see that there's a new Soilwork album out. Their last one was one of my top 3 of 2003; should I get this one? [This thread is, largely, for those who've heard the album/have an opinion, in case that's not obvious.]

i liked it! pretty heavy and it sounds really nice too. crunchy. if you like soilwork you will probably like it. i don't think it's hip enough for most ILMers (so they probably haven't bothered to listen to it), but i think it's just a solid modern metal album.

I'm warming to the new one. I still think the choruses are overworked. I feel like simplicity was what made their choruses work on albums like NBC and with Spider's newfound confidence, the choruses are getting less hooky and more labored.

they've also dialed back the keyboards on the last two albums and pursued more of a traditional guitar-based melodic death sound, but have kind of branched out into newer textures.

I don't think this is a patch on Predator's POrtrait or NBC, two of my favs by them (or maybe not even Chainheart Machine) but it's kinda refreshing to see them put together a nice two album run after the wasteland that was their material post-Figure Number Five.
