Where's the love for Gorky's Zygotic Mynci?

Seriously, this has to be one of the most underrated bands around.
Listen to Spanish Dance Troupe, listen to Barafundle! They're wonderful!
British folk, country, post VU art rock noise, flamenco, Barrett tinged acid tomfoolery, melodic loveliness. Just a bloody great band, one who've been unjustly overlooked.

Here I am! It's a sad truth this thread had to be started!

Don't forget "How I Long To Feel That Summer..." - it freaked me out at first but I grew to like it best after I think it was Alba reviewed it for the best 00's album list.

brilliant band. my interest has waned with their increasing folkiness, but obvs they were way ahead of the current freak-folk resurgence. They remind me of Duprat's line about Os Mutantes "they're so young, and they know everything! it's impossible!"

You my homeys!
How I Long is one I have to add to my list. They're a band I heard on Mark & Lard and Peel back in the day and thought they were lovely but was too much of a wuss to spend my teenage pocket money on their cds and instead spent it on underage booze and crap cds (and some good uns). However, I've picked up the above albums in the last couple of years having been blown away by them at a free gig they played in the shitty basement bar of my student union. Far from being a safe folky thing it was completely mental, like the noisy bit from Desolation Blues extended out over and hour. Euros was jumping up and down and he bashed at his piano. They still found plenty of time for pastoral loveliness but, yeah, they rocked.
I've been rocking the folk lately and picked up their albums again and am just loving them. The time is right for them now, what with Adem, James Yorkston and the wondrous Lucky Luke (keep yer eye out for the debut album in April) doing interesting things with folk. Come back Gorky's!
