Sounds pretty damn good so far. As could be expected the two styles seem to mesh seamlessly and beautifully. Anyone else heard it yet? I am meisterj on slsk if you need it.

I liked Men Of Station, but wasn't feeling the rest of the album.

The first couple times its seems a bit homogenous but after a few listens for me it seemed to parce (parse?) itself out for me and i liked it even more. Hopefully it works like that for me and guero, with which seems very "samey" to me right now.

Men of station has become a serious repeater; is it the case that that's the best the album has to offer?

I can't say yet if I think that it is the best but it is a great track and if it was it definitely wouldn't mean that the album would be doomed. Men of Station has the most overtly Notwist vibe to it than the other tracks in my opinion. The albbum seems to take the dreamy soundscape type atmospheres from cLOUDDEAD records and create them with Notwist type instrumentation so its not so much of a pop record as I though it was but i still like it.

I'd say that an appreciation for anticon stuff is more of a requisite for this record than being a Notwist fan would. I do wish it featured more of Markus Acher's (spelling?)singing, his voice is amazing a kind of complacent energy. Yeah that's kind of an oxymoron but thats what makes it great for me, it plays out in his singing.

Yeah, the whole thing would've been improved had it been more than a "Notwist does backing for cLOUDDEAD" type thing. Going into it as a Notwist fan, Men Of Station was all that appealed to me.

So yeah, John, unless you love cLOUDDEAD ... don't tackle the rest of it too hard.

I'm a fan of both camps, so I had no problem getting into it at all. That said, it's not something I listen to everyday... but when I do listen to it, I wonder why I don't.

Sorry to hear that's the consensus.

Forks,
I have listened more and when I'm listening to it it places solidly in my top five this year but when its not on i have a hard time remembering why I like it as much as I thought I did.It might be because it has a real cohesive feel to it Give the whole album a chance, tracks begin standing out as the play count goes up. Men of Station isn't even my favorite track. I like Afterclaps as well as a few others more.
