Agenda-Pop: when the message comes first

When flipping through the crates at Salvation Army (etc) I sometimes come across old records created by religious groups, hippy communes, new agers, and such. (Examples: 'Jews for Jesus' put out a couple albums in the seventies, and that recent 'Baby got Book' thread). I am curious about these records because of my oddball sense of humor and novelty. But here's my question: do any of these records have good music on them?

A distinction: we're talking specifically about groups or individuals who are making music as a means to an end (that end usually being to promote a social or political agenda, or attract members to their cult). This thread wouldn't apply to all the music that happens to have a message in the lyrics, but no specific doctrine or goal. Thankyouverymuch.

Were Public Enemy a "message band"? They were awesome.
