Got an accoustic open-mic night next Wednesday... what songs (Have up to 3 on my setlist) should I play... keep in mind the following:

1) My most listened to acts are Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Oasis, Suede, The Talking Heads, Killing Joke, Iced Earth, and uh... KISS...

2) It has to be solo accoustic (Harmonica too is okay)

3) I'm open to any song from any band

4) My voice is awful

5) No, I will not be playing Stairway, "man"

paly freebird when the jackass in the crowd inevitably calls for it. That'll be a curveball.

I did Big Star "Ballad of El Goodo", Madonna "Holiday", Olivia Newton John "Magic", and Nirvana "Drain You". The Nirvana went over best, Alex Chilton surprisingly worst

There's no 'the' in Talking Heads! Do a Hootie song.

Play "Melancholy Baby" (obscure Judy Garland type joke...not that I've got a lot of Judy Garland..not that there's anything wrong with having lots of Judy Garland...Some of my best friends have lots of Judy Garland)

I once hounded a singer in a pub to do Dylan's "My Back Pages" (had to be Dylan, mind; not the inferior Byrds version)constantly for about an hour. He still refused to play it. (Mind you I had been drinking Dogbolter for about 3 hours before, so he probably didn't understand a word I was saying. Or he just ignored the drunk lying on the floor..one of the two).

Anyway, do My Back Pages - although I won't be there in person, my spirit wil be applauding loudly.

play stairway to heaven, then freebird. then strip, and taunt the crowd while you sling your underwear around on one finger. oh yeah, be drunk. very drunk.

OK, now you're nekkid, so you could sing Happy Birthday Mr. President a la Marilyn Monroe to JFK and THEN finish up with My Back Pages.

I might pay to watch that (honestly, I don't have any Judy Garland... Well not much, anyway)
