The original is an ear-raping, tinnitus-courting skronk masterpiece. As if it could ever be improved, the cover adds a hip-swaying dollop of funk with ominious industrial whatsis and scratchy hip hop flourishes.

Both make me so goddamn happy to be alive. If you disagreee, you're a foul-smelling parasite with a fondness of deviant and degrading sexual practices that aren't even interesting.

Yes indeed, the original is wonderful. The cover is okay I guess, didn't make much of an impression on me, not that I have anything at all against MBM. I'll see if I can dig it out of my gigantic box of tapes here in a sec. I'm on a Cabaret Voltaire trip at the moment, and MBM seems like a nice thing to transition into from them, so what the hell.

Played the MBM version...still didn't leave an impression. I guess it's a case of "the first version you heard usually remains your favourite".

I heard the MBM version first (and I must confess, assumed it was an original). I quite like lots of their other stuff (notably earlier stuff like "Dog Star Man").

I wish Mark Grout was on right now cause he knows lots about W.D.E. - I have unanswered questions. For example, I have just satisfied my curiosity regarding a question that had lingered in my mind since Alex mentioned them, namely: "Is 'Let's Play Domination' available on CD?" Well, as I suspected, the answer is no, sadly. The only CD I see available is something called "Twintone", released in 2001. But I don't recognize any of the tracks on it and the clips I hear on amazon sound really modern i.e. perhaps remixes??! Please explain.

Was it Jah Jah Call You that had the biggest fuckoffest bass/beat blast ever? That whole album makes LCD SOundsystem sound as fresh and vital as a gang-banged rectum really don't it? And as for MBM - does anyone remember the Consolidated remix of Edge Of Control? Fuck me - up there with Young Gods 'GasolineManRemix' and The Skatenigs 'Loudspeaker' as prime dancefloor fodder of the early 90s.

Hi guys!

Yes, "Let's play domination" is so available on CD, although the next album "Love from Lead City" is not. (That's remixes/dubs, and 1 side of live stuff).

Look for Caroline records in the US, and Product Inc in the UK.

The 012 album "Let's get professional" is well worth searching for, it has proto versions of "ALA" as well as "Funky Town" and "Three Little Birds". If you've heared "Beat baby hi" on the b-side of ALA 7", it's mostly like that.

I have a CD that a very kind person traded me with all the 012 stuff from their "Fuck off records" days. Basically, you can hear how they started from, but I would not recommend if you are lookingfor an easy listen.

I have an out-of-date fan page (only just got my my webpage supplier password back!) but this might well help.

thee most underrated band of the 80's? if they had existed three years earlier, i feel their profile would be so much higher. 'a.l.a.' must be one of the best debut 7"s ever. i had the good fortune to see wde play many, many times in the late 80's and reckon the records don't quite capture the magic. 'jah jah call you' live in particular just made you want to go and fuck there and then. magical.

Well, Let's Play Domination may have existed on CD at one time, but it sure seems impossible to find now. Going to Caroline's website didn't turn up anything.

As for that Twintone thing, I'm gonna guess that was a different band/artist entirely than the one we speak of here.

I'd also like to -- once again -- recommend the MBM/Orb collaboration, Battersea Shield. Not only does it (a) rock and (b) come to you via estimable Brit label Malicious Damage (erstwhile home of Killing Joke), but it comes in a cool, shiny Metal Box style...er...metal box.
