I choose Sandra, as she was the only one whose music wasn't downright unlistenable.

sandra, i think, and not just because her producer michael cretu went on to produce enigma, which isn't as big a deal as milli vanilli's producer frank farian having previously produced boney m (and the far corporation, though i still haven't heard them) anyway; on the other hand, come to think of it, milli vanilli's album has some songs that are probably catchier than any sandra ones i've heard (including her one{s} that sample led zeppelin), so maybe they should win instead...well, unless the goombay dance band should, for being one of the most boney-like non-boney bands of all time (at least on the one album i've heard by them.) i have no idea who modern talking are though. who are they?

I certainly wouldn't call Modern Talking Italo disco. They were way closer to Goombay Dance Band musically than they were to Italo Disco.

A track like "Cheri Cheri Lady" is musically 100% Italo, I can't see how you can argue with that.

Modern Talking producer Dieter Bohlen (the blond Oliver Kahn-looking one with the mullet & tracksuits) is still a major society figure in Germany and produces a number of German (teen)pop acts and was a judge on the German version of Pop Idol.
