Must be a different Bob Welch from Bizarro World. The real Bob Welch played a Les Paul through a Marshall -- not very folky -- and made one heavy metal record and one noise LP with his band Paris, after Fleetwood Mac.

Seals and Crofts were not also-rans. They were headlining in amphitheatres and arenas in the early 70's. I lost a buddy to a Seals and Crofts arena show up against REO Speedwagon ca. "Ridin' the Storm Out" -- which was a very big deal in ballsy hard rock land. Why? Goyls. The girlfriend wanted to hear Seals & Crofts. Next day, while cleaning the bottom of the local swimming pool: "I wish I woulda seen REO, George."

Google:
His solo career has produced three platinum albums, "Celebrate Me Home," "Nightwatch" and "Keep the Fire." He's also won two Grammys: 1980 Song of the Year for "What a Fool Believes" and the 1981 award for Best Pop Vocal for "This Is It." He also picked up an Oscar nomination for "Footloose."
BTW, L&M on back together...and on tour. Oh lord help us.
