Are there more of them than Dimebag Darrell?

Didn't GG Allin die onstage, or pretty soon after a show anyway?

Neil Stewart (Neil Stewart), Monday, 9 May 2005 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Tiny Tim died onstage at a uke convention after singing "Tip-Toe Through The Tulips."

**Keith Relf died in the bath, playing electric guitar**

I didn't know that - I assumed it was onstage.

Did Alex Harvey die onstage?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

No, but his brother Les, of Stone The Crows, was electrocuted onstage.

Daniel Peterson (polkaholic), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to the doctors. He said 'I'd like you to lie on the couch'. I said 'What for?' He said 'I'd like to sweep the floor'

Ludo (Ludo), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Who was the guy (besides Dimebag) who got shot onstage?

Hurting (Hurting), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really a musician, but Dick Shawn, who played LSD in teh movie The Producers, died onstage. He was kind of a performance artist, and did crazy stuff...he had a heart attack onstage in the late 80s and died instantly, and the crowd thought it was part of the act.

He sings Love Power in The Producers, classic stuff.

Thanks, Daniel. That's what I was slowly working towards.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Phillipe Wynne of the Spinners, didn't he die onstage? One of the greatest vocalists ever, anyway.

edd s hurt (ddduncan), Monday, 9 May 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

"Didn't GG Allin die onstage, or pretty soon after a show anyway?" - I believe he died of a heroin overdose soon after a show. His stated plan, however, was to insert a stick of dynamite up his arse, light the fuse and stage dive into the audience.

Steve Gertz (sgertz), Monday, 9 May 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Chalino Sanchez didn't die onstage (he did get shot onstage though...) but he did KILL somebody from onstage.

tylero (tylero), Monday, 9 May 2005 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess I am not the only one to have immediately thought of Tommy Cooper upon seeing this thread title.

I went to Millets and said 'I want to buy a tent.' He said 'To camp?', I said butchly! 'Sorry, I want to buy a tent.' I said 'I also want to buy a caravan.' He said 'Camper?' I said campily! 'Make your mind up.'

So I went to the dentist. He said "Say Aaah." I said "Why?" He said "My dog's died.'"

darren (darren), Monday, 9 May 2005 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

And the moral of the story is: do not die on stage. Especially if you are a comedian/actor/magician as the audience will think that it's part of the act and consequently will not give first aid until it's too late.

Ben Dot (1977), Monday, 9 May 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard Eric Dolphy, don't know if it's true.

In fact, I have read several places that for an actor it is actually quite a honor to die onstage.

It isn't

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Dolphy had an allergic reaction to honey?

edd s hurt (ddduncan), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)
