Is "Richard Hung Himself" by D.I. a really, really super horrible song?

I was reminded of this song (which I have probably not heard nor thought of since I was a teenager) recently. There are eight references to the song on ILM, six by Alex in NYC.

it's great! "nuclear funeral" and "reagan der fuhrer" might be better though.

For me, it will always be tied to Suburbia... not the Gen X Eric Bogosian travesty, but the Penelope Spheeris masterpiece from 1984.

it's ok, i don't think anyone remembers (much less SAW) the bogosian one.

I thought this song was hilarious when I was about 8. That and the Dead Milkmen.

six by Alex in NYC.

Bahahahahahaha

Check out Slayer's cover of it on Undisputed Attitude. Sure, it's a bit horrible, but what do you really expect from D.I. (a band renowned for going "fag bashing")?

it's a great song! but not as good as anything off of the first adolescents album.

i'm assuming DI doesn't refer to Disco Inferno, then?

i love that "jesus caught and pushed him off the shelf" line.

it reminds me of a very calif. subburban strain of the punk rock that i never quite got. its kinda funny, but i just found that stuff kinda flat and unrelated to what i was looking for in punk. then again, i never quite got the calif punk stuff at all. amany of the right sounds but just no relation.

I just listened to it again and it's not so bad. It does have a certain nostalgic attraction for me though as it reminds me of my friend and I listening to his older brother's punk and hip hop records in elementary school and laughing at all the parts with dirty words. This and "The Roof is On Fire" were particular favorites.

"O.C. Life" and "Johnny's Got a Problem" are equally great, btw.

If by "horrible" you mean "fantastic," yes!
Horrible would be the album title, What Good Is Grief to a Dog?

DI - TEAM GOON EP is genius. "I Like Guns"

Sometimes I wonder if that shelf is the same shelf from Ratt's "Round and Round." Must be some shelf! I guess it's an LA thing.
