Which do you prefer? I am partial to bagpipes myself.

There are only two things in the world that sound worse than a set of bagpipes:

Two sets of bagpipes.

As bagpipes are prominently featured on "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll)," they win.

"Masonic Inborn" to thread.

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 06:50 (twenty-one years ago)

bagpipes. it's all about the drone, innit? but accordions are vastly under-rated too. hmm. i'll have to go away and think about this more carefully.

As bagpipes are prominently featured on "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll)," they win.

This is the inspiration for the thread. "It's A Long Way To The Top" rules all songs with accordions.

buck van morrison (Buck Van Smack), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

accordions.

not that i hate the pipes.

Says it all for me about accordions . . . but then again, I live in Paris and you can't get on a metro without some tone-deaf busker banging out three chords on one and drowning out yr walkman . . .

BTW Does anyone remember the bagpipe jazz cross-over LP called "scotch and soul" (I think) ?

Dave H, Thursday, 12 May 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Songs with accordions are alright, cause you can listen to them, and some of them might be good. But bagpipes are better, because they're kind of expensive and you can probably sell them for enough money to purchase lots of songs with accordions.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 12 May 2005 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, if it's like 100 songs with accordions versus 100 bagpipes, I'll take the bagpipes, and start a bagpipe mail-order business, and use the profits to buy songs with ARPs instead.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 12 May 2005 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

nabisco, it seems youre the only other person to obnoxiously pedantically interpret the thread title. i thought better of bringing it up, though. grow up, dude!

J/K friends forever!

peter smith (plsmith), Thursday, 12 May 2005 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

When I first read the title, my eyes skipped over the "TS" so I just thought it was about songs that feature dueling accordions & bagpipes, which seems like a great idea.

Bagpipes. Saint Rufus Harley makes any discussion academic.

I disagree. The more sets, the better, as it sounds cleaner the more of them there are.
