C/D: Falling Asleep at Shows

Inspired by the other thread, but not many folks seemed to say whether they were proud or ashamed, or happy or regretful. what's the verdict?

I say classic, not only because I have done it, but also because it would be great to see someone do it. usually shows are so godawfully loud, it takes some serious exhaustion or boredom to fall asleep.

fell asleep during Superchunk in the mid-90s. Classick.

In the late 90s, several of us went to a Ted Nugent show at the outdoor ampitheater in Pittsburgh. Ted was proceeded by many nondescript opening acts, and it wound up being a long day. During Ted's set, I looked over at one of the fellows in our group...and he had fallen asleep. I'm not sure whether he had "wanted to get mellow," but he certainly was. Fortunately, night had fallen, so Ted didn't notice. Otherwise, I suspect that we would have seen a flaming arrow coming in our direction. Definite classic.

i am always regretful because it's always unintentional. i can specifically recall this happening during spoon, low, and autechre(!), but there are surely more..

A friend of mine who isn't into space rock in any way, shape, or form, still brags about the night he fell asleep with his head on the stage at Sigur Ros.

I fell asleep standing up at a Belle & Sebastian concert. Which is why I don't go to Belle and Sebastian concerts anymore. So, D.

I have fallen something at numerous shows, but I don't think that its been asleep for the most part. Damn bourbon. Damn it how I love to hate to love you.

nine years pass...

A post on the 24-7 Spyz thread made me want to revive this one.

The first show I ever fell asleep at: Beastie Boys / Rollins Band / Da Lench Mob at Roseland in 1992.

which set did you fall asleep during? & why?

like I said on the other thread, I was conked from moshing during the openers, and found a seat up on a tiny balcony at the venue where I could doze away.

I went to Coachella one year and fell asleep during Radiohead (playing at night) because the day heat had been so savage. what I saw was good! but that's a hard venue (if you're not on drugs, which I wasn't)

I fall asleep at shows all the time, not because I'm bored or the place is too hot but because I never get enough sleep. I've even fallen asleep at standing shows and nearly toppled over right in front of the band.

I once deliberately went to sleep while someone (The Drones, I think) played at an ATP -it was about half past 10 - because Neubauten were starting at 2am and if I went to the chalet for a nap I probably wouldn't have made it back out to see them.

Last year I fell asleep during Electric Wizard at Temples, at least in part because it was kind of dull.

I was at that ATP - I fell asleep during Josh T Pearson - in fact i was cursing him in my head to hurry up so I could fuck off and go to bed

fell asleep for a minute or two at Earth last month. it was a good show! i was just really tired and a little drunk. and maybe the deep vibrations were soothing somehow.

could have sworn there was another thread like this.

I fell asleep at a Robyn Hitchcock show once, he was great though! can't remember if I was tired or what.
