Yousendit problems?

Uploading a file, I get confirmation e-mails that say "success" and everything, but then when you click on the e-mail link this comes up:

Unfortunately, the link you have clicked is not available.
Your transfer cannot be completed. Most likely the file has exceeded its allotted bandwidth or has been removed by the original sender or a recipient.

This without a single download. Does there server go down sometimes or something?

You missed this key line:

or has been removed by the original sender or a recipient

Anyone who has access to a YSI link can fuck things up for everybody by just clicking "remove", since, you know, it's intended for one person. It's far more of a trust thing than most realize.

I can't see why someone here would do that. Then again, I can see why few others would. ILX is pretty popular. You'll always have lurking skunks.

Yeah but this is one I e-mailed to myself (to test) and no one else even looked at the link.

Yeah it's been happening for a while now, there are some files you can't send through YSI - mostly new mp3s/albums, of course. RIAA strikes again.

Could YSI be... MONITORING and CENSORING the posting of files by copyrighted artists? (cue scary music)

Same thing?

Yes, this sounds like the same problem.

Solution: Zip the file. I'm pretty sure that it masks the underlying filetype contained in the .zip, since I use it all the time and haven't ever had a problem.

Just rename the file.

or Delete the tag.

Unless it's blocking all .mp3s...

cdwill, Friday, 13 May 2005 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

then change the extension

Amon (eman), Friday, 13 May 2005 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

No, but it will help chisel it
