POX The Beatles 62-64 UK album tracks

You got it? List the best album tracks by The Beatles from before the album era started for real in pop music. From 1965 onwards, a lot of their most well-known tracks were never singles, but in 1963 and 1964 the album tracks are at least somewhat less known.

I am limiting this to the UK for two reasons

1. More than a dozen different Beatles singles were pulled from albums and released more or less at the same time in the US on various labels following their breakthrough in early 1964.

2. The "Beatles For Sales" tracks count, even though "Beatles '65" didn't see its US release until 1965.

Here is my list:

1. I Should Have Known Better
2. If I Fell
3. And I Love Her
4. Things We Said Today
5. I'll Follow The Sun
6. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
7. Ask Me Why
8. All My Loving
9. Do You Want To Know a Secret
10.I'm a Loser

Lennon's opening triptych to Beatles For Sale is my fave moment in all of Beatledom.

Geir plz note that I ended up picking three songs THAT THEY DID NOT WRITE.

Personally, I think they did a great version (a lot better than the original) of "Twist And Shout", but there's no way that was even close to my Top 10.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 15 May 2005 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all good, Geir! Has anybody ever heard the original version "Mr. Moonlight"? I'd like to hear that. didn't The Hollies's cover come out before the Beatles or something like that? I like the way they play it too.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 15 May 2005 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anybody ever heard the original version "Mr. Moonlight"?

John Lennon did. Not a lot more than him, I think. :)

Oh, and if BBC sessions are allowed then take out 'I'll Follow The Sun' and replace it with 'Some Other Guy'.

And if EP tracks are allowed, take out 'I Saw Her Standing There' and replace with 'This Boy'.
