i just switched to a mac and don't have my slsk hooked back up yet.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

its my Rosebud...

danny boy, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

shd we start an emix trade thread? any interest??

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm interested! i only have a few to share, though. black strobe, 2 many djs, richie hawtin. maybe one other. but i will look hard!

W i l l (common_person), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

a mixtrade thread would be great, but will they last very long on YSI when the files are so huge?

rajeev (rajeev), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

sure, why not? i have posted 2 or 3 100+ meg files on YSI in the past week and they're still up ... or maybe that just means nobody wants my "mixes" =(

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a few really old ones. Weatherall '93, Goldie '96, Jaxx '97 and '99, Daft Punk '97 and '99...I will def try and put them up this month.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

what's the goldie one like steve? i got a j.majik at metalheadz circa 96 but it's not all that.

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

daft punk 1999? they didn't do an essential mix in 1999!!

the goldie mix as the same vibe as his INCredible sound mix ... good stuff but you can hear the tedium starting to creep in. i actually prefer photek's, it is totally steely and blank and sounds like the soundtrack to a movie about extreme nighttime biathlon or something.

it'd be great if somebody could put up guy called gerald's emix - that is like "my definition of d&b" right there.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

daft punk's 1997 emix is the best dj mix of ALL TIME.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I got a rip of the Tom Middleton Jedi special from Radio 1's "listen again" stream, so the quality is *ok*, but not spectacular:

http://s29.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3MR76KHUYEHJQ1WLWPUA5Q3G26

If anyone gets hold of a better rip then sl5k ID or ysi of it would be grand.

Enjoy!

Bill A (Bill A), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

holy crap, that gerald looks amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

daft punk 1999? they didn't do an essential mix in 1999!!

New Years Day 1999, 2 hour Essential mix in place of the usual Essential Selection. It is the best thing ever.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

what's the goldie one like steve?

features every seminal dnb track on Metalheadz and similar from the time. second best thing ever.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i don't seem to have ALL of each mix i've mentioned, they're all incomplete.

Anyway I've put up the first 45 minutes of the aforementioned Jaxx one here temporarily.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

steve do you have a tracklisting for the 2nd daft punk one? i had no idea it existed!!

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

www.themixingbowl.org/ might be of some use here.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

the blackstrobe one is better than any others I've heard.

most of the really eclectic ones are more enjoyable for reading the tracklist than actually listening to them. check out the dj touché one from last year, looks like the greatest thing ever, just is boring in the end cos you are familiar with every single track.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That'd be true with the DP one just there perhaps, and the Goldie one. But with so much time having passed since them they gain that nostalgic, definitive aspect that appeals. Looks like Middleton was going for this too on account of the Star Wars tie-in. The big dork.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i found someone on slsk last night with the gerald but there were 489 people ahead of me. :(
