genre: Condo Rock?

I'm thinking about certain albums that, say, rich people who only buy 5 albums a year to help spruce up the atmosphere in their new condos. I call it condo rock. They're sophisticates, they sip white wine, they own albums by:

Coldplay?

Wilco?

Oasis?

Do these qualify as "condo rock"?

TS: Condo Rock vs Condi Rock

rich people who only buy 5 albums a year to help spruce up the atmosphere in their new condos.

Rich people buy condos? Here in Pasadena they buy mansions and really big houses near San Marino or the Rose Bowl. Why would they waste money on a condo? Or an Oasis record?

What about all the poor schlubs living in shacks, sipping red wine?

They listen to Howie Day.

I OWN A CONDO BITCHES. I BUY AT LEAST 5 ALBUMS PER WEEK.

[that bastard] jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Shouldn't that be "I OWN SOME CONDO BITCHES"?

The Ghost of Article-Noun Agreement (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect that most rich white men who only buy 5 albums a year buy the nastiest, gangsta-ist hip hop on the top ten at the time of purchase. This is my pet theory. I can't afford the study to validate it.

See search and destroy: Yuppie music

Norah Jones for unobtrusive audio wallpaper.
Led Zep for men of a certain age who miss their teens and twenties.
Beatles, Eagles, or Journey (depending on when the buyer was an adolescent female) best-of packages.

I own a condo and I have CDs by all those artists! Is there a compilation CD I can buy somewhere? Maybe they sell one at Starbucks.

kickitcricket (kickitcricket), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I think condo rock and yuppie music are on different wavelengths. Morcheeba is a good Condo Rock example, Huey Lewis is the pinnacle of Yuppie Rock.

... And suddenly Ian Riese-Moraine is a naked man saying, 'Volvo! Volvo!' (Easte, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

the idea of condo rock is intriguing, but you need more snoop, more st. germain, more verve remixed compilations...

the rock n roll nigga (the rock n roll nigga), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Huey Lewis is the pinnacle of Yuppie Rock.

How so? I can't imagine that any Huey Lewis fans are exactly young up-and-comers anymore.
