Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I really can't be bothered to even care about this.

d'ngullberry (noisemeltdown), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

this article is fucking pointless

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ryan's put a lot of weight on, huh? Fat guys always are funnier though, they use their humour as a defence mechanism.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

like 99% of everything I see on Pitchfork, I got bored and stopped reading about halfway through.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Stop it, you'll make Ryan start comfort eating again!

hipster stud, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

ILM now = no better than Hipinion.

Counting down to gay jokes thread.

Sam Hunt (robosam), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

note to magazines, web-based or otherwise: stop enlisting david cross to write for you. he's only funny when he's on a stage.

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree. except for the part about him being funny onstage.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Is John Mayer really funnier than David Cross?

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought Ryan would be hotter.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, standing next to DeRo...

Huk-L, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Did anyone else read that only a little bit and feel like they just walked into an unfriendly circle-jerk?

Cunga (Cunga), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 06:19 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, Cross seemed really pissed off, more than usual even, he treats Pitchfork like theyre Halliburton or something I wouldnt have published it if I was them it wasnt funny and makes Pfork seem insecure.

jmeister (jmeister), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Cross is an asshole. funny, but an asshole. but this article was tedious. like, who fucking cares?

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 06:52 (twenty-one years ago)

this whole article was like on of those Mr. Show sketches that start out with a lot of potential, but go sour at some point and go on for about 8 minutes after that.

jonviachicago, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

He mentioned one of my reviews, so I sent it to my mom. She asked, "Who's that?"

save the robot (save the robot), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

And you said, "mom, it's me. David Cross."

Dominique (dleone), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a little bloated, but I found most of it to be pretty funny, and I laughed out loud a few times. I loved his take on their rating system ("RATING: 4.Point
"), and some of the made-up band names, songs, and lyrics ("Get on the bed bitch... now!"). It was acidic and brutal like most of his stuff tends to be. The only thing that really sucked was when he dropped the humor and tried to set the record straight about his album name at the end. Who cares? I liked it better when I thought it was a hostile pre-emptive strike against critics and people who don't get it. Meh.

jotai, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Cross is a pussy.

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

let's remember that this guy was the comic relief in YO LA TENGO and SUPERCHUNK videos. he's like the Farnsworth Bentley of indie rock

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

let's also remember, in his defense, that he plays the brilliant Tobias Funke on Arrested Development.

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

let's also remember, in his defense, that he plays the brilliant Tobias Funke on Arrested Development. He's not much of a writer, and yeah, this piece seems kinda useless, but in the right forum i still believe he's pretty funny.

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ack. i hate when that happens..

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr. Show? More like Sister Blow!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Now if Bob Odenkirk wrote this, then it'd be funny.

Honesty plus prophecy equals relevancy?, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Bob Odenkirk? More like, Bob Out-of-Work!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

David Cross? More like Don't Forget To Floss!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

He's funny on Arrested Development, that's about it.

Leon Federline (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrested Development? More like Suspected Malevolent!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep wondering if I'm missing out on anything by not caring enough to read Pitchfork, let alone parodies of it. Maybe it's the font or something, but I just can't get myself to fake an interest.

diedre mousedropping and a quarter (Dave225), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Despite his affiliations with Pitchfork and bad sitcoms, David Cross is a-ok.

-- Al (hoteloper...), May 18th, 2005 2:07 PM.

And now he's in the new New Pornographers video!

Ross Godfrey (scatter), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

three years pass...

This is hilarious, holy shit.

1) While reading over Pitchforkmedia.com's review for the Arcade Fire, here's a brief excerpt: "Our self-imposed solitude renders us politically and spiritually inert, but rather than take steps to heal our emotional and existential wounds, we have chosen to revel in them. We consume the affected martyrdom of our purported idols and spit it back in mocking defiance." May I suggest listening to Until it Happens/You Let it Happen, by Maximum Minimum. The fourth album (not counting the re-release of the first three 7-inches on HugTown Records) reaffirms the band's status as the godfathers of the Taos, N.M. "crying scene." Like a gilded phoenix rising from the toxic ashes of the death of mercurial lead guitarist, Peter Chernin, Maximum Minimum snarls back like a taunted tiger on steroids (also on acid). RATING: 8.2

Adam Bruneau, Wednesday, 1 October 2008 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

huh?

s1ocki, Wednesday, 1 October 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)
