Industry's "Ready For the Wave"?

Does anyone know *anything* about this track? Featured on one of the multitudinous Flexi-pop compilations (which I admire greatly but about the compilers of which I know nothing). It's a fantastic electroscuzz, dancehallesque, pop, ultra-proto-jungle/d&b track--complete badass insanity. I can't find any information on it at all, though.

Interesting you bring this song up because I've noticed it's been kindof drifting into my head every now and then lately for no apparent reason and I couldn't even remember who it was by, so I'd been meaning to do some digging and try to figure it out. Thanks for saving me the trouble! The only info I have on it is it came from a 12" on Metro records, that either the band or label was from Little Neck, NY and it's dated as 1980.

Also, in '83 there was a synth/new wave 5-song mini-LP by a band called Industry that I seriously doubt were the same band, although I believe they were also from the U.S. - this appeared on a major label (Capitol). The only song title I remember from that was "Communication".

I've heard that '83 disc, and yeah, it'd be a transformation of more than Scritti proportions, if it were the same band.

Metro records, Little Neck NY. Thanks, Bimble. This one is a real gem.

Here are the other songs I have from that 12" (the one with "Ready For The Wave") incase you want song titles: Logging Time, Caribbean Cruise, Intransition, and Production Goes On.

Also I just found a record on Gemm that says it's by Industry, (title also Industry) on Metro records for $15. It's listed as an LP and it's supposed to be "60's rock" but it does seem a bit coincidental...

I think the band that was on Capitol was the one that did a song "State of the Nation", and was from Long Island. I don't remember "Communication."

It's hard to believe that there'd be two "Industry"s within 3 years of each other, one from Long Island, the other on a Long Island-based tiny label. But maybe. I remember the synth and reverb drenched single, kinda Icehouse-y, it certainly seems veeeery different from what you describe.

I guess it could be. Seriously, this is d'n'b-cum-electroscuzz with just a nice little touch of jamaican riddim. Vocals are clearly white boy, though, even if distorted and chorused with pitch-shifted versions. I think I deleted the '83 ep, now I wish I could hear it again.

Anyway, thanks for the GEMM heads up, Bimble. I hope the other 4 tracks are good--but even if the're merely ok, I feel like this one track is worth the $15.

If someone has the ability to YSI, I'll gmail you this track.

Hell, I'm just tickled pink that I've even come across one, let alone two people who know that '83 record! It was one of those things I bought at the time, remember liking well enough, but haven't played it since then, mostly because I expected to be embarassed by it. I still have it, but it's all the way across the country. Kinda wish I could hear it too, now.
