1981 Box Set - Moratorium

This seems the simplest and most efficient way to let those of you who may have been anticipating a copy of the 1981 mix know that because of demands in my personal and professional life, I'm taking a break from distributing the mix. I'm not certain how long it will be before I am able to start making copies again, or even if I will.

It is still my hope to produce a 3rd edition--there are still over 150 people on my waiting list, and word seems to continue to spread (though I don't always know how or where). I still don't feel I can guarantee everyone a copy--but I'm not really burnt out yet, I just need a break. If I start up again, I'll continue on a first-come-first-serve basis where I left off on the list.

I am considering going with a no-repeats 'Briefcase' disc, allowing me to fit about 250 bands that aren't on the main mixes. Of course, I will make this version of the disc available to anyone who has an earlier edition, should they be obsessive enough to want it ; )

It's been a lot of fun getting this mix out there, meeting people with all levels of familiarity with the subject, and hearing great stories of what this music means to you. Everyone has been courteous and patient. Hopefully I've spurned a few legitimate purchases of the music. The whole experience has been a wonderful surprise, coming after what I figured was just a yearlong borderline-OCD amount of time spent on something no one would care about but a few friends.

P.S. Sorry for making a second thread, but I didn't figure as many people who might be interested would see this buried at the bottom of the old one (found here: Your opinion, please: 366-band, 411 track 1981 box set ).

P.P.S.: Those of you who've sent payment within the last couple weeks--I'm incredibly sorry that I haven't yet shipped your copies. Usually I managed to within a couple days send out batches. But recent events in my life have left me without lunch breaks and evenings to spend burning/stapling/folding/stuffing/typing/posting. Your copies (there are about 10 of you) will go out Monday.

After getting that box set, I basically spent an entire week's paycheck on new records. Damn you for making rad stuff.

Haha that was my secret plan. Not a well kept secret, I guess.

You're lucky a lot of this stuff is o.o.p. (unless you're searching out even that stuff. . .)
