And it feels so good. http://www.mtve.com/article.php?ArticleId=5615

I hated the Spice Girls so much in fourth grade that I'm suspicious it was a backhanded sort of affection. Went as far as watching "Spice World" to "make fun of how stupid they are." Drew "mocking" pictures of them in little notebooks...

that said... hadn't listened to them in forfuckingever, just downloaded a few tracks ... and oo, I'm so glad. Hopefully the reformation won't suck.

babyalive (babyalive), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

And it feels so good

BASTARD! I was going to make that joke!

Ally to thread of course. THEY KEEP PULLING HER BACK IN!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

are you serious, Ned? should anyone be proud of making a lame Peaches & Herb reference any time any group reunites?

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't they reunite a few years ago? I vaguely remember them release from faux-R&B shitfest.. "I wanna make you holler" or something to that effect...

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

should anyone be proud of making a lame Peaches & Herb reference any time any group reunites?

Less that than the fact the inclusion of 'reunited' in the thread title made me think of the song (since I am lame) and then clicking on the thread saw I was beaten to the punch. Ergo I raged.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Rex Quondam Et Futuris

j blount (papa la bas), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

(As opposed to "Ego I, Raggett."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

good goddamn, i have to see them in concert!!!!

reo, Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

reuntied- and it DOESN'T feel so good

heri galliwell, Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You're so clever.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with Babyalive ... my only hope is that the reunion won't suck. I should be a lot happier about this, but the spectre of potential suckitude looms large in my brain.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 21 May 2005 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Shit, this will do one of two things to Emma's career. Set it back 10 years, or make people pay attention to her latest album. I'm hoping for the latter.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 21 May 2005 06:00 (twenty-one years ago)

say it IS so!

ja (_ja_), Saturday, 21 May 2005 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

hooray!

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 21 May 2005 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

sheesh, "fourth grade"; i feel old! i was a senior in college when spice world came out.

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 21 May 2005 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess if they were going to plan a reunion tour, this would be the time for it. You know, before they start showing their age..

billstevejim (billstevejim), Saturday, 21 May 2005 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i have decided to like them this time around

jones (actual), Saturday, 21 May 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a car commercial with "wannabe" in it and while i wasnt so into the spice girls back then, im really loving them now. analysis: YAY!

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Saturday, 21 May 2005 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe they work better as nostalgia than at the time.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 21 May 2005 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

how could they be even better?

ja (_ja_), Saturday, 21 May 2005 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Does a reunion more or less acknowledge that they're collectively giving up on their solo careers?

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Saturday, 21 May 2005 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ch-Ching!

(or maybe I Ching?)

Joe (Joe), Saturday, 21 May 2005 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

"Change returns success
Going and coming without error
Action brings good fortune
Sunset, sunrise"

Joe (Joe), Saturday, 21 May 2005 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

does this mean emma bunton won't be guest starring in any more abfab episodes?

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 21 May 2005 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm still reeling from the realisation that "Wannabee" was NINE YEARS AGO. I always regretted never seeing them live - as with the original Take That - but maybe now's the time to take in the full horror of five women the wrong side of 30 strutting around like Tina Turner mini-mes...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Saturday, 21 May 2005 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I was in fifth grade when they were everywhere. It was around the same time Hanson was everywhere, no?

Ian Riese-Moraine is on toffuti break! (Eastern Mantra), Saturday, 21 May 2005 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a cassette with "wannabe," "say you'll be there," and "2 become 1" on it, all of which i taped off the radio. i got sick of all of them after awhile but in my mind they'll always be classic.

joseph (joseph), Saturday, 21 May 2005 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

(that was sixth grade)

joseph (joseph), Saturday, 21 May 2005 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm still reeling from the realisation that "Wannabee" was NINE YEARS AGO.

Holy.

Shit.

You're right - why do I think of them as being more recent than that? Maybe 'cause the individual Spices are still permanent fixtures on the celebrity b-list?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 21 May 2005 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ch-Ching!" How could you be so cynical as to suggest this reunion is about money?! That's crazy-talk! I have personal knowledge they are returning just to show all the subsequent teeny-bob-psuedo-divas how to put on a *real* show. Call me rockist, but I feel the Spice Girls really left MTV in a mess when they left us, and the ressurection is meant to resolve all this once and for all. It has all been prophesied!

Bobby Peru (Bobby Peru), Saturday, 21 May 2005 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Listen guys...

Someone asked Mel B, in the wake of her promoting her new single on GMTV. "Would you ever reform?" "Yeah, I'd love to.. Next year, maybe..."

That's not a booking. Right?

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 22 May 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

right.
